I think I should join you! I've got a busy work life & lots of hobbies etc. and the house is VERY untidy!! I've decided one of my hobbies should be decluttering!!

Whenever I try to tackle it I do too much at once and it looks worse than when I started! And then I usually have to hide everything in a hurry as I have an evening meeting at work or a visitor turns up!
Any tips on how to make a constructive start would be welcome.

hi kazzaw nice to have you join us - you are very welcome here as we are all in the same state of chaos - well some of us are!!!
Dont be getting stressed out - you have a job which takes a lot of your time so you will have to get into eveining routines and doing a bit at the weekends.
a new list is added to thefirst post every evening by our pigpen and you should try to follow it to whatever level you can manage - by the end of the week you will hav been around the whole house - Remember your house didnt get in a mess overnight so dont expect it to become tidy overnight - babysteps - whatever little you do will make it easier - every week that you follow the lists it gets easier - believe me I have been there and most of the others have at some time too. there is always a de-cluttering mission which helps.
Dont try to do the whole house at once - its just too much and you will sicken yourself.
Remember to read the first post as it gives you all the info and abbreviations.

welcome to the totally bonkers madhouse - oh did I forget to tell you - we are all totally insane here - it does help!!!

  • oooooooooooooh lots of newbies ....fantastic

Hi QOTD, beemuzzed and LOUBOB You are all very welcome here. a new list is added to the first post every day so dive in and do what you can - you dont have to do it all just to whatever level you can reasonably manage - make sure you read the 1st post as it gives you all the info and abbreviations - Dont stress about the mess - your home didnt get in a mess overnight so dont expect it to become tidy in a day!!! Remember its BABYSTEPS - just do what you can and it will get easier evryweek and soon you will catch up on the things you have missed.
There is no such word as failure here- always post what you have done no matter how little it all counts.
the support and encouragement on this thread is fantastic -and we will all try to give suggestions - not always sane ones!!! hope you have fun - we do on our good days!!!!:rotfl:

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.
