    Thanks pigpen.

It doesn't sound impossible when you put it like that! I'm sure it doesn't help that, since I found this website just over a week ago, I've spent most of my spare time lurking! There's so much good advice for cleaning & decluttering and for money saving/getting rid of debt that I'm struggling to know what to concentrate on first!

I think I could spend the next week on this website reading different threads and not actually doing any cleaning. Although that could also be a good thing as it means I won't have gone to the sales to spend any money either.

I'm glad I've found it as it seems like a fantastic place with lots of lovely people all willing to help out those who struggle. I'm looking forward to becoming a successful flylady....just not sure how many years it will take me to achieve it!!

Hey sweetie.. I've been here.. almost 2 years.. OMG is it THAT long?????? *hangs head in shame!!*

My house is a pit.. believe me.. some days I can barely move from my chair I am lazy to the core!! Of the 7 deadly sins.. I am sloth.... totally!

    Start at the beginning...

How long has it taken your house to get that way?
Is it going to be clean and tidy and decluttered in 2 hours? .. Nah.. I thought not..

You start on today.. and task 1... when that is done if you have time/energy you start on task 2. Whatever you don't do WILL be round again.. you haven't failed, you merely ran out of time. A lot of our flybabes and flyguys work, have families, study and/or have health issues but we muddle through and it is SO gratifying knowing you are not the only one who is cleaning poo slicks off the inside of the bowl, or wiping the dusty manky skirting boards!

You NEVER focus on what you have NOT done.. unless you are inherently lazy *ahem* like Mudbath (though granted she is on no duties as she is sliced, diced and saut!ed right now)

You focus on th things you HAVE done.. we are all about positive reinforcement not about guilt trips and negativity..

Anything you do that you wouldn't ordinarily is a bonus and a step in the right direction.

With the support of this freaky lot.. and me ;) your house will soon gleam and you will be proud to come home to it and proud to invite friends and family over.. without having to throw it all behind the sofa when the doorbell rings!!

Descalling Greenbee - I simply pour in neat white vinegar - leave a while and pour out. Sometimes I heat it up a bit if it is really scaley.

Thanks Dusty. I'll try to get this done overnight tonight. Sleep well!

I boil it with the vinegar in.. it seem to lift it off so much easier then.. but yeah I'm weird

 I've run out of white vinegar :o Mind you, I rarely use the kettle! But the iron is currently working overtime :rotfl:

Vinegar in the iron (just checked the 'self clean' thingy and it doesn't seem to be very dirty). I have one of those metal mesh things in the kettle, so have cleaned that, plus rinsed out all the bits of scale that were floating round the bottom. There's not too much actually stuck on (I use a kettle on the hob, and have found it gets much less scaley than the old electric one  ). It's just boiled, so I'll think about vinegar tomorrow morning.

Have added cleaning the silver photo frames (only two, but still) to my list, as I've realised that my dad gave me 3 kinds of silver polish for Christmas (obviously he noticed they hadn't been done, so I need to do them before he comes over on Sunday!

Have emptied my bed of the FOUR hot water bottles & two wheat heats I had in there last night. Have made up two bottles & warmed up both the wheat packs. I'm hoping that will be enough tonight... the house certainly feels like it has warmed up!

Mudbath... YOU are supposed to 'be taking it easy' as you overdid it the last few days... I don't care if it is peeing you off... how pee'd off will you be when your hubby has to take more time off work to look after you because youcann't sit still? And all those people at the hospice waiting for you to get back to help them.. all having to suffer because noone does it as good as you.. they need you well and your family need you well and you will be being sat on.. now stop it! Go watch some drivel and declutter some sweets and wine!!
