Too right... she can't challenge everyone else and then not do it herself!
  • Hi everyone

I just discovered this site and have been lurking on this thread with great interest. I would love to join in but think I need to do some massive de-cluttering before I can even get as far as level one. At the moment I just envy everyone who is organised enough to clean regularly - my usual problem is I can't see the areas that need cleaned for clutter.

To give you an idea of how bad it gets in my house, I resorted to throwing everything that was lying about into cardboard boxes and hiding it all in the loft before all my visitors descended for Christmas dinner! I'm sure that's not the way to do things!!

I wish I was a tidy person and not a hoarder. I guess I need to make that my New Year's resolution. Now, who has a magic wand? Hopefully I'll join you all on this thread one day.

Great news Johanne! So what are you going to spend it on?!

Do we have any consensus on the best way to descale the kettle and iron, seeing as they're on the list?

Have done most of my work surfaces, and the hob & oven. I've been working on the oven since August, and it's loads better than it was, but I've neglected it recently, and have noticed this time that its a bit sticky... the bits where the shelves go have stuff that looks like part-cooked chocolate cake mix on them (it can't be, it would have burned off by now), and it turns into spongy brown bits when wet... I'm hoping its just the really old grease that's finally coming off, but let me know if you think different! Either way, it looks as if I'll have to have a few more blitzes on the oven to make sure I get right back to the surface at some point!
  • Thanks pigpen.

It doesn't sound impossible when you put it like that! I'm sure it doesn't help that, since I found this website just over a week ago, I've spent most of my spare time lurking! There's so much good advice for cleaning & decluttering and for money saving/getting rid of debt that I'm struggling to know what to concentrate on first!

I think I could spend the next week on this website reading different threads and not actually doing any cleaning. Although that could also be a good thing as it means I won't have gone to the sales to spend any money either.

I'm glad I've found it as it seems like a fantastic place with lots of lovely people all willing to help out those who struggle. I'm looking forward to becoming a successful flylady....just not sure how many years it will take me to achieve it!!
