Ive been to santorini. true the approach by sea into the Caldera is breathtaking, the main town has nice bits, grubby in places. you could visit Santorini for the day from Rhodes via hydrofoil which also calls at another small island that i cant recall.

The area of Cyprus around Paphos is a dump IMHO. Dirty, over developed,no decent beaches, rip offs, chavvy southern git timeshare sales types etc. The other end is better toward Akrotiri.

I've only been to Cyprus once and the best bit was when i felt the wheels of my plane leave the tarmac.

You should spend a few pound more & go to some nice parts on the east of the island.

    Pathos is the cheap resort:rolleyes:

Or avoid the plunging £ against the Euro and go to Northern Cyprus - Kyrenia is a lovely town. The Turkish bit of Cyprus is not as developed as the Greek bit and is a wee bit more difficult to get to - either fly to the south and hire a car or fly via Turkey to Ercan. There are no problems crossing the border between the two countries although if you hire a car in the south you need to pay a small insurance supplement at the border.

We had a great holiday in Kyrenia in September and plan to return in the future. Because we didnt have time to see everything in a week.

Yes,i didnt realise that at the time though luckily i hired a car and was able to travel around over toward Larnaca,Nicosia and the Troodos mountains etc.

I could not commend the Paphos area to anyone. I wouldnt want anyone to waste their hard earned cash going there, especially with their families.

O gosh.... I've booked to go to Paphos for two weeks in July. I've been to Protaras twice and thought this would be a nice change.. Should I cancel it..

Nevermind I'm sure I can make the most of it..
