Do you just keep all your receipts, also our pay day runs from 25th to 24th, but would like to give it a go from the 1st to 25th or this month, so I'll go for £150 and then next month run from 25th to the 24th, also do you include eating out and any advice on trying to Slimming World and also budget.
Thanks
HI,
I have a book and I write everything down, I know that a lot of people add their receipts up afterwards (and I do keep them) but I couldn't rely on that because it's quite likely that I'd lose some. Another good tip that I have picked up today is to put the grocery money in a tin and use from that, making sure that you put back any change so it can add up. :T0 -
Well i am now back after nearly 3 months but determined.
Please put me down for £300 though i have my soon to be 5year olds birthday party to cater for 20 kids in that i am hoping i should still be able to come in under budget as before my lapse i had been doing about £250's fingers crossed for everyone to have a good month xxxStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

Hi
New to the grocery challenge too, but I lurked a lot on the December one!
Would you please put me down for £140 this month (1 adult, 2 ever-hungry children and a cat!). My normal spend is normally £200+ so it'll be tough but I think it can be done and really want to give it a good try! We have so much food left over from Christmas anyway, which should make it easier.
Thanks to the December thread getting me so motivated, I already have 7 meals made and frozen ready for January! I had some leftover potatoes, carrots, parsnips and onions from before Christmas, which probably would have been thrown away tomorrow as it was all looking a bit sorry for itself. Instead, inspired by what I read on the grocery challenge I went out this morning and bought a couple of tins of corned beef, and made a huge pot of corned beef stew (delicious it was too!). We had enough for lunch and supper today, and the rest has now been frozen as 7 individual portions for future meals. Not bad at just £2.70 for the corned beef, and using veg I was only going to throw away otherwise, so thanks all for showing me the light!:beer:0 -
hi, count me in, I started this last year but got fed up with trying to force hubby to stick to a budget. Who knows this year may be better. Id like to spend less than each month last year. So Im starting with £350. This seems like a lot for 2 adults and 2 kids (growing lads) but husband has expensive tastes.Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000

Hi, I'm new to the grocery challenge but think I'll give it a go!
I'll go for £90 for everything -food, toiletries, cleaning products, and that's just for me. :beer:Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Going for £100 for January as budget says we can't do more than that. Our January started 22/12/08 and goes to 30/01/09. I'm going to need to do a big shop this week as cupboards are fairly bare from eating from them and freezer all last month.
Have done a vague menu plan and think we can do it. First month of the GC so this should give me a good idea of what I need to do. This is for food, toiletries, cleaning etc for me, DH and our furchild aka doggy.Take the first step.
Even if you cannot see the whole staircase,
Just take the first step.
