  • First spend of the year for me but it was only £2.05.

I only needed a loaf of bread but as my local Mr T's was shut, I ended up in Asda and managed to find a bottle of Stardrops too. It's the only thing I didn't have from pigpen's list (on the Flylady thread) of things I need to start tackling my clutter and mess and hopefully get my house totally clean, tidy and organised one day.

I didn't buy anything I didn't really need - I wonder how long I can keep that going for! Tonight's job is to make a list of everything in my freezer as I haven't a clue what is in the bottom of some of the drawers and then make a meal plan and shopping list for the next week.

Please may I join. I want to set a goal of £240 for 4 adults. I must use what I have in (including all the stuff in the bottom of the freezer that I never get around to using).

    Then I must economise.
    Thanx
I don't get to come on here too often.
    Too buzy money saving!

I have done another big shop today (well £25 is a big shop for me) and although it is week 2 I have now spent nearly ¾ of the month’s budget. However, looking at what I have in there is enough for the rest of the month, other than milk & maybe a few little bits.

Have also batch cooked some fish pie & fish lasagne. I’m trying to get plenty done before I am back at work on Tuesday; bolognaise sauce & chilli are already in the freezer from the other day, but I am running out of freezer space! I think I will have to get in there tomorrow & reorganise. Or buy another freezer!

Hmmm I just meal planned for the next week starting on Sunday... The only thing I need is salad stuff as long as I get my new breadmaker to make edible bread - todays (1st ever :T ) was good but not an everday loaf! It should be a very low spend week unless I spot anything woopsied! :j

I made a list of the contents of my store-cupboard, fridge, freezer etc today. I seem to have enough pasta in to last me ~6 months, a silly no of tins of chopped tomatoes and ~1.8kg of cheddar cheese! :rotfl: Ummmm cheesy pasta bake of some description anyone? I think thats going to be on the menu very regularly for a while... :rotfl:

  • I've not spent a penny so far! (wont last long though....)

Tonight were having French Onion soup with home made bread.

OH and me can both work funny shifts and it's not unusual that we some times eat at 10pm

In case any one fancies it I can highly recomend the microwave version from the recipe thread, although I then stuck it in the SC to carry on simmering away (and give OH the impression that I had been slaving away all day:D )

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before

~Had my first sdpend of 09 £9.00. Just washing powder, yogurts, dog food and a few odd bits and woopsies.

Don't see any need for any other shopping over the weekend so a good start to the year.

Good luck to everyone, and welcome all the newbies and returnees - the more the merrier.
  • Had my first spend of the new year -£1.98 on batteries for the bathroom scales for annual january diet and £2.00 for reusable freezer containers.

I have just gone through the freezer and its heaving with stuff as are the cupboards with pasta sauce I must have thought there was going to be some sort of worldwide shortage of Lloyd Grossman tomatoe & chilli sauce, upshot is I'm hoping that all I am going to need this month is veg and milk.
  • Hello,
Have been very good and done my meal plans for the whole month!!

And first spend of the year today, spent £12.77 at Mr T's, only got a few bits as my dad came round for his tea.

I did manage to walk way from a ham joint that was reduced - still over priced. But did get some mini toad in the holes for 75p. I know I could make them, but my little sis is coming tomorrow and she likes things like this. Going to serve them with some mash and left over leeks. Not going shopping till Monday now as we will need cat food by then.

  • Hiya,
I am only halfway through reading this thread, but am so inspired, i tried grocery budgeting myself last year with limited success, am currently on maternity leave and am desperate to save money so would like to set a target of £300, this month with the hopes of reducing this over the coming months, i know the month has already started but haven't left the house yet this month so not a penny spent, my month will cover the 1st to the 31st and is for myself, DH and DS, and this will cover all food, eating out, take-aways, nappies, toiletries, household stuff etc (Gulp), any spare money will hopefully if i am strong willed enough go towards my debts.
    Sorry i do ramble

    Jan 2025 £26561.43/£0. I want to clear £9000 this year (2025)
  • Spent £16.37 today on catfood and litter at Costco (BTW should I include litter here?) - £9.60 of catfood lasts them 12 days (2 pouches each a day). They are VERY fussy - do not like gravy, only jelly - will not touch ANY own brand or specific others. This is my own fault I know as I have pandered to them over the years :rotfl: but they are quite elderly now so I don't feel able to deny them!! So, what I'd like to know - is this good value or can I do better in the supermarket? I only shop at Costco for it because it's in bulk so in my own head I think it must be better value...!

Also spent £10.87 on meal out with DD - she's been away for a week so wanted to do something nice. Went to cinema - kids club tho', so I went free! :D
