Just logged on to update my first spends of the year, went to Sainsbury's, no whoopsies which was a bit of a disappointment but never mind I got everything else that I wanted.

Thanks to everyone who has given opinions on Approved Foods, I shall definitely be ordering, shall just do a small order to start with and then take it from there.

Dinner tonight is going to be "using up what's in the Fridge" - got some salad, smoked salmon and salad potatoes and shall cook a pack of Sausagmeat found lurking at the back, slice that up and serve with some HM wedges as OH doesn't like Salmon or Salad.;)
    "WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"
GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

  • Hi all, only spent £7.80 today out of my £300 budget for the month. I should hopefully be under budget again this month, as we have a freezer full (of leftovers - picked the chicken apart and made a pie with it; stock, veggies etc). I am also using up odd bits - was fed up with potatoes, so the children had spagetti, chopped tomatoes and chopped sausages - it all went within a couple of minutes!
I should also save some money at the end of the month, as hubby is going abroad for the week, so i won't have to top up his coke addiction and we can try a few more veggie meals!

Off to do a few jobs, and then clear out the understairs cupboard of packaging for ebay!

Happy New Year to you all xx

Hi spent £48 in Mr.T today though that did include £21 for coffee. You probably think I'm mad but now DH is home all day (his work's closed down) he gets through loads and we are using a jar a week
The Kenco was up for £3.00 for the 200g jar, so I got 7 jars, and will tip 3 jars in a big bowl and mix in 1 jar of cheaper coffee into it. That way we ghet a bit more out of it but don't lose the taste.
I've bought 5 packets of the Value biscuits to try out,
    Digestive 31p
    Choc digestive 33p
    Rich Tea 25p
Custard Creams (this was a big pack lol) 30p
    Ginger NUts 34p
Worth a try, I've had the choc ones before and they're good.
Also got the ham as I'm back at work Monday  and clementines (loose, they were cheaper) and bananas.
I treated myself to a packet of LOve Hearts as I couldn't resist them ;)

  • Evening all,
Just got back from getting some milk - Farmfoods had run out of semi, so I had to go to Mr T's and got 2 x 6 pints of milk @ £2.25 each which is really annoying as Farmfoods only cost £1.50 for 6 pints - a saving of £1.50 for both (or an extra 6 pints I could have frozen!!! ) I should have only brought one and then got the rest tomorrow, but it might have been tempting to do more shopping and then I wouldn't have saved anything, plus the diesel to get there... oh well, teach me not to go earlier in the day eh!

On the plus side, I did pop into the little shop next to farmfoods and got myself a small change purse for 75p and having drawn out my shopping money for the week, I will keep it seperate in there so I know exactly what I have/haven't spent and I can put the change into savings at the end of the month... as I'm always forgetting to keep my receipts, thought this might be easier...

    See you all later,

  • Hello Everyone

I've just been to Mr T's and spent £34.81, this is so much less than what we normally spend (£50+) I was really chuffed, would've been less but OH sneaked 2 x mistletoe kisses, 1 pack of Choc Ices, 2 x choc desserts into the trolley whilst I wasn't looking! Grr at him!

We didn't buy any cake, but bought 2 cheap bars of choccie and some golden syrup. When I came home I made some rice krispie cakes and some flap jack, hopefully this should last a good few days. My DP has SUCH a big appetite, I can't keep up with him! And such a sweet tooth too, we are supposed to be improving our diets, this was a big factor for me in starting this OS thing. We're not doing so well with the healthy eating but at least our spending is better so far! (after one day! hehe)

I've been to the local shops today, but haven't spent much :T

39p for 2.5kg spuds from A!di, plus 41p (instead of £1.65) for a pack of 4 peppers from S'flds -- and a resulting 10p of shrapnel for my sealed jar.

And 39p for 1kg of carrots from A!ldi, but these are out of my 'dog food' budget rather than groceries -- 'cos they're being chopped and used as treats for the Dalmatian as DS is working on 'recall' with him (allergies to additives rules out all but the most expensive dog treats)..... and another 1p for my sealed jar.

  • CW, my furchild loves carrots also. When I'm scraping and chopping them she sits behind where I'm working. When I look around at her, she gives me a "please paw." I can't resist her. :)
