January 2009 Grocery Challenge

Just updating my January numbers. First month of grocery challenge and I spent £4.80 over my budget. So I'm declaring at £354.80. Not too bad. And not that painful either. Perhaps I'll try February at £350.00 again and then see about reducing it for March.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0

I am declaring at £349.00, which is well over our budget for the month, because I have been very busy at work, which means more convenience food, and shopping in a hurry! But I have earnt a lot of overtime..
Now Feb begins and it's back to some serious money saving!
See you there.

I came in at £145 for January, £5 under budget. But I have quite a good stock of cleaning stuff and bread making ingredients. Will need to buy some veggie mince etc next month though.0

DEclaring Jan over at £402.44 - so only just over and that's taken up by stocking up on some washing powder on special offer. First time I've been over
Technically our month doesn't end until tomorrow, and I am sending hubby off to Mr S on his way home tonight - but that's for stuff which we won't use until Sunday at the earliest, so I shall include that in Feb's spend.
Hnag in there, the remaining people on Jan's GC - almost done!!!

Well, this month didn’t go as planned
. Spurred on by our success in Dec at coming in under budget (at Christmas and all), I thought we could attempt to knock £50 off for Jan. I was sure that with goodies left over from the festivities, we could manage but it went pear-shaped. We had used the £150 budget by the 21st Jan. Time for a re-think.
Our budget included all pet food and we’ve now decided to put this into a separate budget from Feb as our kitty now has prescription dental biscuits at……………….wait for it…………£21.02 per 2kg bag  We’ve also decided to alter our ‘month’ for GC purposes (we were doing first – last day of month) to 22nd of one month – 21st of next month, as this falls in line with our pay day. So that gives us a 31 day month, 22nd Jan -21st Feb. We’re calculating on £6 per day, so £186 for Feb challenge for us please.

Have done a small shop today, which is included in Jan although most of it will be Feb, can't believe we are still under budget. :j Hoping some of the hard work is beginning to pay off, maybe I didn't notice before because of the extra stocking up towards Xmas.0 -
Ok Total Jan Spend of £110.36 so the slush fund has gone into negative equity
