Well, I made it! January's total is £271-67 which is £28.33 under budget. I counted the F&V shop that I did this morning in January's total even though it is really for the first week in Feb. However, the Ocado delivery which came earlier this evening will count out of next month's money if that makes sense.

Quite impressed with Ocado. It was the first time I had used them - no substitutions and the delivery man phoned to say he was close by and could he deliver early - I paid only £1-49 for a late delivery between 9 and 10, so this was even better value. And I used the £15 off voucher I mentioned last week ( in case anyone missed it you need to spend a minimum of £60 - code is VOU104705).

I have set my target of £275 for Feb. We are way visiting rellies one Saturday and have a weekend break booked too, so as it is a short month I am hoping to beat this too. My month runs from tomorrow 30th to 27th.

    good luck everyone.

Hi final shop done for me today so thats a grand total of £185.42 quite a lot more than i expected but this was a trial month for me as I had never really paid attention before to what I was spending on food. I think I have probably shaved about £100 of my 'normal' monthly spend but am determined to do better.

Mrs M can you put me down for £160 in Feb please. Going to try and reduce £20-25 a month util its around £120 a month.

Popping over to the Feb thread now. See you all there.

Spent a little more getting sugar, milk, chopped tomatoes and baked beans, but have a little left, but we may need another bottle of milk before Sunday, depends how much cereal we eat between now and then. Will be declaring on Saturday.

Having come down with the mother of all colds earlier this week I dispatched OH to pick up a few bits for tea tonight (it's the last birthday of birthday week *breathes big sigh of relief!*) and he's returned with a receipt for just over £44, so that's us gone over for another month!

I'm completely gutted - I was so sure we were going to come in under! Oh well - am going to declare this month at £325 as we definitely won't need anything else now and shuffle over to the Feb thread. I'm *definitely* going to crack it this time!

Well done everyone and see you all over in Feb! :T

Aaagggh! Budget totally blown! However, this has been a real eye-opener for me on how much we are really spending and where we can make cut-backs so it has been so worth while.

Having said that, we did have friends come and stay for a few days and we did eat and drink very well (ie lots!!).

So this month I have spent around £310 - around £30 over.

Well done to you all who are under! Right, over to February!!

    Morning all

Just popping in to update the lists.....

MoneyQueen - Last month we added a section at the top of the list for a few of us who have started and "annual" budget..... would you like to be added to that bit ?
I have decided to have an annual budget so I can take advantage of bargains and offers -to bulk buy when things are on offer too ......

right -off to update ...see you all over in Feb soon

    Hi MRSMCAWBER

Does this mean I can be in both the lists (Annual and Monthly)? If yes, can you add me in the Annual also please - £1000 for 2009. I am already in the Monthly list - £80 for Feb..

    Thankyou

My grocery spending has been completed for January and, hopefully, there are many things that I won't need to buy for much of the rest of the year.

Total spend for January is £201.31 out of my annual budget of £1200. This is for all food, groceries, cleaning products and toiletries for 3 adults and includes some bulk buying.

Still breadmaking and pie-making and reckon soup and an assortment of pies in between roast dinners, stews, curries, sweet & sour and stir fries is the right way to go so our household can continue to [STRIKE]survive[/STRIKE] thrive on this budget. :D 4 meat & veg pies, an apple crumble and some biscuits in the making this afternoon, 3 of the pies for the freezer, which is still filling up rather than emptying. I just need to learn to make the bean pate and we'll be fine.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
