Hi Le Foot
Thanks to what we've saved from our Grocery Challenge -which paid half-we are off to Central Amercia for a month at the end of July - travelling from Panama, through Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras to Guatemala.
In 2010 we hope to take our Nephew to Pearl Harbour-His choice-so 2009's savings will go towards that.
Thanks for the interest and what about you??? SFT (Make it quick before we're deleted for being off topic)

Hello everyone! Alwayshappy - I am well impressed with your butter making efforts - how much butter (weight) do you get from a carton of cream and do you need to add salt to it when you are whisking? There is often cream reduced in our supermarket and I might give it a go.
I took my Christmas Pudding cheesecake back to M&S today with the original packaging and the receipt and they gave me a refund no problem. The man on the CS till was very pleasant about it and said that he had bought one after the Michael Parkinson advert and they hadn't liked it either.
I made up some lentil soup today to use some of the leftover gammon, and it was really delicious. I also used up some of the frozen party nibble thingies as DD2 had friends round for tea.
I am hoping not to go to the supermarket until next week.....Jane

Hi all - can I please be included for £110 this month? This is quite a bit less than usual but I have a freezer full and also have loads of stuff in the fridge to sort out andtry to squeeze into freezer. Anyone know if you can freeze blue cheese?
Good luck this month everyone

This is made up of.....
£1.80 each a day for me and younger DS = £3.60/day * 31 days = £111.60
£1.80 a day for 5 days to cover elder DS being home = £9.00
50p a piece for 3 cooked meals for younger GD (Mon only, term time) = £1.50
20p/day for after school snacks for GDs (M-W for younger one, M-F for elder one) = 28 snacks = £5.60
which actually comes to £127.70, but I'm rounding it up for ease
bl00dy 'ell.
You have turned the GC into an exact science!!!

It's how I've calculated my grocery budget for the 'live on £4k' challenge
And I've based it on my spends (or, to be more precise, useage) in August thru October for me, younger DS and DH, plus what I've been feeding younger GD since I started having her around pre-school at the start of November.
In October I managed on lower than £1.80/day for an adult, as I came in at around £145 for the month for 3 of us -- so £1.56 per person a day -- which means I actually have some 'comfort' in my budget for not doing as well on the Whoopsies as I did that month
So in theory I should come in under budget each month :TCheryl0 -

I also don't get so much time to whoopsie hunt, with back being really bad this week and running around like a blue bottomed fly after DS, but there are good finds out there. I REFUSE to buy stuff only reduced by 10p or the like though.
