Hiya
I am going to try for £350 this month, Jan 1-31. That's for two adults, two teenage college students and one teenage schoolboy. And one cat.
Thanx!!!0 -
Happy New Year everyone! Think I had better get back on the wagon - have no idea how December panned out - lost the will to live after week 1 - but seeing what my bank balance is, think we may have done OK - not much entertaining so not too many extra purchases. My month is 1st to 31st for 1 adult, 1 12yo (eats like a horse) and 1 8yo. 1 birthday in this month too but have quite a stock in the freezer - have to plough through leftover bits for the next week or so - but then back into normal patterns.
Hopefully jsut milk and cereal until the weekend then we'll see.
Good luck to all! Mrs M - please put me down for £280 thanks!:jSealed Pot 617 - target £150 only managed £27 in 2009!0 -
I've just noticed my total's not been added, I think because I put it on the December thread so..£120 for Jan please Mrs M.
Thanks & a Happy New Year & Grocery Challenges to you all!!

Hello!
Needs must. Dropping my wage soon so need to rein in the spending.
Jan 1st-31st, aim for no more than £250. Thats just groceries, not washing powder etc. Have a note book so shall not diligently each evening!
Will do an inventory before I begin.
Not sure if I need to do anything 'special' to get noticed & officially added!

Should also add, we are 2 adults, 2 kids. DH does travel so can go a week or so with no need to feed him.

Goodness me, you lot have been busy!! It's only been a couple of days since I was last online and you've all gone mad! Must be the excitement of a new monthly budget that does it!! Well my month started officially on 24th Dec as that's when I would have normally got paid (it was 19th Dec cos of Christmas but I managed not to touch it!). I braved Asda at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve in the hope of some whoopsies and I was not disappointed!!
6 x 1kg bags of Charlotte potatoes @ 20p each
9 loaves of bread for the freezer @ 20p each
2 x 500g bags of sliced mushrooms from the pizza counter @ 50p each
1 x 500g bag of chopped peppers from the pizza counter @ 50p
It's been a while since there's been anything that good!
We did a proper shop on Monday to get fresh stuff, washing powder, toilet roll etc and have spent a grand total of £68.71 out of our £100 budget. The meal plan is all done for the month, because we stocked up last month we don't need to buy any meat and certainly no jars/tins of stuff. I have more shower gel than I can shake a stick at so we're looking good to go for January! I have to say that the meal plan includes a week that is entitled "freezer stuff" which will be all the things that I have been batch cooking for the last few weeks. I figured that when this bump decides to turn into a baby, the last thing we will be wanting to do is cook and hopefully it will save on any rash take away decisions we might make otherwise!!
Oh, by the way - Spendaholic, not sure if you ever found your pudding rice but Asda sell it. It's in the normal rice section near the curry sauce!!Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

I'll join please - put me down for £300.00 in January. I've never done this before so it's complete guess but I'll see how I get on.0

December was a bit overdrawn on the grocery budget front - no real surprise I guess! I'd like to start this new year with a budget of £320 please. Hopefully I can cut it back further next month, but I seem to be running short of loads of basics just at present.
Happy New Year Everyone!:hello:Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Just had Mr T deliver the bulk of a months shopping - the driver commented that I had a lot of shopping for the week following Christmas, I told him it was for a month and he said it looked like a large weekly shop! Goodness knows why he thought 3 packs of 12 value toilet rolls would be a weeks worth :eek:0
