We bought more Pyrex dishes just before Christmas, from Woolies so massively reduced. I need some small ones too, anyone know where I can get them as cheap as poss? I want to make loads of individual ready meals for the freezer. They don’t have to be pyrex, as long as they’re reusable and cheap I’ll be happy :D I don’t want foil ones, which is all I can find at the mo

If you have an InStore/Poundstretcher near you, they often have them a good prices. HTH

  • We had a relaxing day. Had a lie in til nearly 7am. :rotfl: After getting up at 5 each morning for DH's work, it did feel like a lie in.

I put a pork shoulder joint, carrots and potatoes in the SC this morning. Despite DH's skepticism, he loved dinner tonight. He is now converted to loving SC also. ;)

Went for a nice walk and play in the park with furchild today. She ran and played fetch until she was tired out. Then we walked down and picked up a few things we needed from the shop.

I did pick up a couple of Christmas bits and bobs at greatly reduced prices. No paper or tags because I still have tons and not much storage place at all.

I still need to sit down and make up my monthly grocery list and do it online tomorrow. I think I've greatly underestimated what we will spend on the GC this month. Oh well, first month or so is for learning anyway. DH is back at work tomorrow so will have the time to do it then.

I'm heading out to take furchild for her last walk of the night and then to bed.

Hugs to all who want and/or need them. Hope it was a good day for all.

    Peyton xx

I'm going to have a look at what I need to last till the end of January in the way of milk etc and stuff that I can keep. Will guess (conservatively) about other stuff like whether we have enough baked beans. I can't expect my dh and ds to understand that I don't want to shop! If there are beans in the cupboard, bananas in the bowl, bread in the drawer and milk in the fridge they won't notice any different. I have enough meat etc to last, but need to get stuff for meal on NYE. Trying hard to 'shop from home' on this, but need some fresh stuff and one or two things.

Had mum's Xmas leftovers tonight, turkey, stuffings etc. I did YS veggies accumulated before we went away, so did golden mash (with swede) and a pan of onions in white sauce. Remainder of the onions and sauce will be for the turkey pie tomorrow, turkey is in freezer, so we can change our minds if necessary. Pastry in freezer so that's an easy day for catering. left over pate and cheese for lunch. Grrreeeeaaaat!

I feel very relieved that I have started my tax return online. Managed to log on which I failed to do yesterday, started entering the info. Must remember to take copies of all the pages, saves looking for all the stuff again next year. Have a manual copy that I did last year ahead of the online one. Filed last year in July and mustn't leave it this long next time round. It feels horrible hanging over me. Hope I don't have any tax to pay! I do have some ££ on one side if necessary, but I have other plans for it.

  • :o Haven't read thread as the dratted computer is being more opaque than normal.

Well, another Christmas nearly over. Dear heart keeps asking me if I am enjoying myself. Then saying, 'you are, aren't you?'

OS - I am extremely proud that the beef that did us for Christmas dinner also did us for Boxing Day (cold with wedges), 27th (stir fry with chestnuts) and today (cottage pie).
Also, ironing mountain is currently a minor hillock :j This has a down side as I put away all of little bear's clean clothes. For some reason, when he was supposed to be having a nap, he managed to get open a stiff drawer that takes me two hands and a great deal of effort, empty all the t-shirts into the cot and close the drawer again. I have absolutely no idea why. He is not bothering with naps. He is completely exhausted.

I have been worried about little bear not speaking as he is two tomorrow, but he is now getting near to being able to say his numbers. Not juice, chocolate, sweeties, banana, apple, cat, mummy or daddy. No, he is starting with numbers, and he knows which order they come in. I think I am going to have my hands full.

Dear heart has sliced his finger open, there is an awful flap of skin hanging off his fingertip. He wouldn't let me put the plaster on - he insisted he was going to do it  It bled profusely but dear heart was stout in his refusal to do anything but check it on the internet.

Hugs to all, and I hope everyone is keeping well. Dratted computer is not playing nicely, so I can't peek in and check that everything is all right.
