Tru - I shall follow your progress on this with great interest! I think I should do something similar so I hope you don't mind if I pinch your idea. I shall start with next year's birthday and Christmas list, ticking things off as I buy them. My food budget is difficult because DH is self-employed and money comes in erratically - I hate it because it's so hard to plan things properly. I shall also re-organise the boxes of Christmas cards and wrapping-up stuff. I didn't do it last year because I was unwell so it was a mess when I came to use it all this year. I'm also going to go through all my clothes and be really ruthless about getting rid of stuff.
Well, that's the intention, anyway - just got to stick with it!

We bought more Pyrex dishes just before Christmas, from Woolies so massively reduced. I need some small ones too, anyone know where I can get them as cheap as poss? I want to make loads of individual ready meals for the freezer. They don’t have to be pyrex, as long as they’re reusable and cheap I’ll be happy
I don’t want foil ones, which is all I can find at the mo
Have you got a Wilkinson's near to you? I get nearly all of my cookware from them it's so cheap. Also have a look in Tesco they often have a clear out towards the end of January I picked up a lidded Pyrex casserole dish last year for 50p0 -
Mioliere - yes, pinch away
Mr tru is paid his basic wage by BACS, then commission is paid by cheque a few days later. His basic wage should cover everything, the plan is to put the cheque into a separate account but with everything getting more expensive, the cheque may well be swallowed up by bills  So I'll keep an eye on it all and maybe put it all in one account and take out a (smaller) set amount instead.
SunnyGirl - oooh yes we have a Wilkinson'sIt's at the other end of town to where my fave shops are so I forget it's there
I'll head down there next week.

Good Morning all! The mention of mince pies in the oven a few posts up has made me realise I have yet to make mine! We are off to friends for lunch so I will be having a go at making mince pies in a few minutes!
I have spent a bit on the sales but I managed to get 80% off a lovely silk shirt yesterday in Debenhams - it was 70% off but there were a few marks so I asked for more discount! if you don't ask you never know. I hand washed my find last night and the stains came out fine! I have another load of hand washing to do and then several bits from yesterday to iron now that they are dry. I find clothes last longer if they are hand washed - I am not too crazy so jeans and t-shirts go in the machine. I still have clothes that I brought over from South Africa nearly 8 years ago and a great lether jacket my mother wore when I was about 8 (I am now 39!)
Turkey is all finished - but we have not opened a single Christmas cake or pudding!
My lovely Mac was fixed by the very lovely people in the Apple store (for free!!!!) so I am still cleaning all the rubbish the teenagers (3 boys) have managed to put onto it before it broke! I had 1.5 million items to delete last night - its still deleting them now! 1.1 million so this could take a few days! hehehe
Hope everyone had a fab time and I have already started on my new years resolution - I choose ones I know I will stick to - this year it is to find out more about my family history - I have already located a great aunt who is filling me in on all sorts of details! its GREAT!
For anyone looking for a really useful but smallish diary - the Good Housekeeping everyday is fab - I plan to use it to track my spending and hopefully save enough to buy a small car later in 2009 - our tank (C5 Estate) is starting to cost more than it is worth!
Anyway - off to bake - hope you all have a lovely day and great to see old style saving!Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

That sounds interesting :T Can you tell me how to make it please? I once did some with olive oil & lemon juice that was great but have forgotten the recipe now0 -
Hello Everyone
Late posting on here as I have had one of those lazy mornings, must get back to normal tomorrow.
Just about to dry hair and head into our little town, we are invited to our neighbours party tonight & I want to get a nice bunch of flowers so am popping into M&S, not much else is open so is should be nice and empty (fingers crossed).
We are having turkey leftovers today with all the trimmings - another Xmas dinner, we love it. Will then strip the carcass and freeze whatever is left.
Need to get back to menu planning tomorrow - back to normal food!
Will probably do some more ironing this afternoon there seems to be loads, have lots of programmes sky+'d so thats ok.
Glad to hear some people have done well in the sales - I never do.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday.

morning all,
Cold and frosty here again today, we are going to have a lazy day at home, and potter. DD got the film 'The Devil wears prada' for xmas, so might watch that this arvo.
We will be eating bits and pieces today, we have a pate to be eaten, and lots of cheese etc, I just can't face another big dinner.
Will get the dog out for another walk, we went 6 miles yesterday, and it was bracing, but ok if you kept going, we sat down for a picnic lunch, and were freezing within moments, will have a shorter one today as dd will be with us.
Welcome to Merry widow :T
Donny have a great time x
Smoky its nice to see you posting, lets hope the bribe with ds works.
Have good days all, and hugs where needed xx0
