Afternoon everyone - sounds as though you've all been busy.
I'm on my 4 NS day on the bounce - haven't been near a shop since Christmas Eve.
Had roasted veg lasagne for dinner last night - the veg were roasted on Christmas Day and were just as tasty second time round. There was enough for 6 portions, so have frozen two and will have the other two portions for tomorrow night's tea. DH remarked that there might be something in "this vegetarian lark"
DH cleaned the house and then did the cars, so he's been really busy. I did the kitchen and have been studying this afternoon.
Think I'll raid the freezer for tonight's tea and some bread.
Enjoy the rest of the day0 -
Hello everyone,
Had a great Christmas and going to stay with friends tomorrow until the new year. Really looking forward to it! Done nothing OS for days, just eaten loads and lazed about, flat looks a right tip now but nm, it's mostly just pressies which we'll have to find homes for.
Haven't had much of a catch up recently so hope everyone's well and *huggles* to all those who want or need them.
No idea what is for tea tonight, probably some leftovers from something!
Take care, have a great new year x0 -
Am going to get a meal ready. DH has menu of Car programmes on BBC 2 tonight, so I think I will go into 'my' room, make ready for next manicure client and then do some Christmas cards. For next year, while I'm in a Christmas mood. Does that make sense? It won't seem like much fun at the beginning of Dec when things are frantic and they need writing!
Also going to start a doc to be the foundation of our Christmas letter next Christmas. SOmething got forgotten, but will still be applicable!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
Trying not to waste food!:j

Hello everyone
I hope you all had a great Christmas. OH has been out with friends to watch the footie today so I have had some time to get my meal planning done and work out my budgets for 2009. Have also cleaned up downstairs so that tomorrow we can finish the decorating we started before I was struck down with the lurgy before Christmas.
We are both off work next week so I am hoping to get the bedroom painted and give the house a good sort out before I go back to work.
I did a big shop at Mr S yesterday to use a £9 off voucher and now can't move for all the store cupboard stuff I bought. One of the jobs next week may be to put some shelves in one of our understairs cupboards.
Tea tonight is something quick out of the freezer with oven chips as I need the space, I can hardly close the door!:o
Enjoy your evening

Evening all
Just had salad with cold gammon and turkey. Felt cold and was tempted to make something hot but compromised in the end and thawed out some brandy sauce from the freezer and had hot mince pie and brandy sauce after salad. Feel full and warm now!! Started a Maureen Lipman book just before Christmas and have read a couple of chapters this afternoon and will carry on now I think until '39 Steps' comes on TV at 8pm. Will be interested to see what this adaptation is like.
Have a good evening all0 -
Who cares what the adaptation is like.
Its Rupert Penry Jones that I'm only interested in !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, this is the first time I have posted in here but I am a regular reader.
I have had quite a lazy day todayWalked the dogs in the frost this morning and tried to burn off a tiny bit of the calories I ate yesterday... and the day before... and the day before!! I am out of control!!
Then I came back and listed a top on ebay to try and make back some of the money I keep spending on ebay. We popped over the inlaws, then I had cheese and biscuits for tea. I tried the blue mouldy looking cheese for the first time and wasnt keen, so I will take that to mum and dad to have.
Ooh one question, mum had cooked me a bacon joint for xmas and to save a big chunk of it going to waste, I sliced it up today and popped it in the freezer. That is ok to do isnt it?
Thanks

Hello all - welcome to newbies and hope those who are poorly are now on the mend.
Busy weekend so far - we went over to see friends in SW London yesterday and we all went to the big rugby match at Twickenham in the afternoon - great fun. Ended the evening in the pub (which is what is meant to happen after rugby!) as the friends remembered they had no food in so we had a delicious meal there instead which she insisted on paying for - bless her! Back today and stopped at the town centre on the way home - I wanted to check Next for any sale bargains but frankly it was a bit disappointed. I always struggle with Next's sale - it's too much like a jumble sale for me and being a shorty I can't be bothered to trawl through ALL the rails in search of the few items of Petite range stuff they have reduced. We did pop into Asda for a pibnt of milk though and came out with the milk and a couple of Whoops's so they are now in the freezer. Also got some cheap wrapping paper to put aside for next year in the little Tesco in the town centre. A quick stop at Mr S on the way back grabbed us two packs of indian snacks (Bhaji's and pakora) for 30p down from £3-something  and croissants for tomorrow mornings breakfast down to 25p.
A relatively lazy evening planned now - I have a rabbit stew bubbling away in the kitchen and the bathroom sink has had a spray of cleaner which is now soaking in so it'll just need a wipe over. WM is on and the long promised inventory of the freezer has been done. I've also done the electricity readings for our ongoing monitoring - night readings are still scary as we're still getting used to the idea of having all our storage heaters AND the immersion heater working again, but the day readings are great - still well under 7kWh p/day so well done us. I intend to spend this evening on the laptop, watching TV and periodically getting off my backside to do 10 - 15 minute bursts of cleaning / tidying.

Ooh you lucky lady, EH! We watched the rugby yesterday afternoon on Sky, it was an exciting end to the match and DH was well impressed.
No chance for me to spend anything today - all the shops are shut!!0 -

Welcome FBB!
That'll be fine with that bacon - make sure if you're heating it again when you take it out of the freezer that it's piping hot throughout, or just eat cold. Also if you do cook it into a recipe, you won't be able to re-freeze that recipe as the cooked ham will already have been frozen in that state once.
*reminder* - for MOST foodstuffs.
Raw - freeze - Defrost - cook - refreeze.
Cooked - freeze - defrost and use right away. Don't refreeze.
