Well, there is curried parsnip soup on the way... still not quite sure what to use the peppers for but maybe I'll have some inspiration tomorrow!
Its snowing quite hard here so I am half expecting a call in the morning to go into work early, must make sure my phone has power in it!
Going to make my sandwiches in a minute and make sure my packed lunch is all ready to go so I have no excuses for a sausage sandwich from the staff canteen in the morning even if I do get an early call!0 -
Good morning all!
Well it's another snowy day in Southampton so I will be dealing with a few more thousand stranded passengers this afternoon no doubt! Glad I'm working the late shift as I really needed a good sleep. Its coming over all dark again so I think we are in for more snow. I've got one MS to do this morning so I'd better get my skates on (literally looking out the window!) and get that done by 1200.
Other than that I hope to:
Get my lunch box made and take to work for a no spend day
Get two loads of washing done before work
Have a tidy up
B!ngoport for a bit
Look for more MS's!0 -
Hi Shazzer
This is my first time using the threads but I have been interested reading your plans for 2009. Well done so far, you are doing really well.
I was reading that you've been doing Mystery Shopping for food shopping. I've been signing up for them but I've only had fast food so far! Is there a particular website you use?
Thanks and good luck.0 -
I finally figured out how to get myself an avatar!
Clever me!0 -
Afternoon everyone, I'm just getting myself ready to head into work and do another MS on the way.
Feeling a lot happier today as got to see my lovely BF for an hour before we both had to get ready for work, he is tired, ill and grumpy though so it was a short visit!
I've only got to work today and tomorrow and then I am off work until about the 16th I think. We are going to the Isle of Wight for three days next week, which will be lovely to get away, it will probably be cold and raining no doubt but I cannot wait. We managed to get a £19 deal at Travelodge and we have a few ideas for some cheap treats.
Work confirmed that I can transfer to my new job as of 1st March, which is fantastic as me and the bf are hoping to start renting somewhere of our own in April. He goes back to training college for a month so will be in Police accommodation for all of March (nice and cheap and food provided!) and I will be on a residential course for 10 days, so hoping to make lots of savings during the month and fingers crossed my bonus will be paid in March along with my uplifted salary.
Seems as though things are really looking up now, I'm a lot more positive about 2009. There is still the nagging worry about my car, I really need to either get rid of it or spend some serious money on it! MOT is in April.
There is also a dilemma about a holiday, we can have free use of a villa in Corfu for two weeks in August, and I can get staff discounted flights through work, but is going on a holiday to extravagant whilst I am in so much debt?
Part of me is thinking 'you only live once' and that when I do move into my new job I am gonna be working v. hard I am gonna need a decent relaxing break, and the other is thinking I do not deserve any treats until I get rid of a huge chunk of credit card debt.... be interested to hear your thoughts!
Right... really really ought to be getting ready now as I have to do MS shop on way to work and not quite sure where it is!0 -
Morning everyone... I'm nursing a slight headache from a rather impromptu leaving drinks for a colleague/celebratory drinks for my new job. I only took £20 out with me so did quite well, got two games of bowling (god knows why, I don't really ever go bowling!) burger and chips and LOTS of beer. I don't normally drink beer so thus the headache today!
My bf is feeling better so is coming round before he does a night shift to say hello, feels like we haven't had any proper time together for about a week so can't wait for him to finish work tomorrow morning!
I'm off to London to do my wine tasting course tomorrow, it doesn't include lunch so that might be expensive but everything else is paid for... I'm quite looking forward to it!0 -
Hello! Well, I can't sleep for some reason, its probably because I know I have no real reason to be up in the morning! Well, been to London today, (yesterday really) and had a wonderful day and avoided going to the shops, thought I might go window shopping but somehow managed to convince myself otherwise (after tasting 14 wines!) and went straight for the train home. I am really hungry now so may need to go downstairs and sort myself out with something filling, been nibbling all day, guess I really need something to fill me up now!
Have been fiddling around with spending diary and got a report off that showed me I had spent £427.19 last month (on mostly rubbish!) Results are slightly squewed as I did a lot of shopping on the last day of the month, but still, its sooooo much! I had no real idea!
Hopefully, if I plan for tomorrow now I might be able to get all my little jobs off my mind and go to sleep!

Well, lets see how much of that I can get done, I've already had 20p from Scratchies today and done some bingoporting but got bored!0 -
Well, I haven't been up very long, relishing the fact I have a week off before starting on the dreaded 9-5. I've got a feeling I'm really going to miss having days off in the week, being able to go to the bank/post office without a queue and shopping when everyone else is at work. Oh well, at least the money is worth it.
I've had the salary information back and it means that my gross will be £30,090.75 plus £3588.00 of compensation for shift pay changes = £33,678.75. I then am able to earn bonuses but not sure how achievable that will be this year.
Until now I was earning £20,833.00 plus £3588.00 shift pay, so £24,241.00 so a £9,437.75 pay rise. Gosh, that's allot when you look at it!
How do I work out what tax I will need to pay on that? So looking forward to being actually able to afford my bills now, I may even work my way out of the overdraft!0 -
