  • P reg Fiat Punto 1.4 auto.

The automatic transmission went on 40,000 miles dead - wasn't worth getting it repaired.

Wouldn't touch any Fiat car ever again.

Ive been fortunate with cars by all accounts then! My worst car was probably a run-around 106 my wife had. A few electrical issues and leaky sunroof but all sorted by my fair hands, and no other major issues in 15years driving :D

  • Audi A3 1.8i turbo Quattro - the most I've ever spent on a car, beautiful to drive but there was always a funny noise going so it was given back to Audi on a monthly basis, sometimes with a list as long as your arm with faults. Had it for 18months and lost £5k in depreciation :( I think it was a "Friday Car"

BMW318i - owned it for 8 months, kept going wrong, final nail in the coffin was the exhaust explosion in Sainsburys car park, fuel leaked into it and sparked, ripped the silencer wide open and set off a few car alarms! Sounded like a tractor driving it home.

Never broke down once: my (real) mini cooper :D, which also happens to be the only car that I've owned that is worth more now than when I bought it :j Makes other people smile too, which is nice. It's also the only car that cuts the engine out if I go over a pothole!

    1997 VW Polo 1.4 16v. 30k miles and 3.5 years old.

within the first year i reaplced te ABS sensors on the front (£155) and a few months later, the abs control unit at £400 - bought at cost and fitted free thanks to contacts in the trade.
A few months later the gearbox main bearing collapsed and VW quoted me £1200 plus vat and labour to replace it. I got it reconditioned for £450 and all before the car hit 40k miles with full service history.

Put me off VW for life.

I did have a 1989 celica in the mid 90s with over 100k miles on it when i sold it and it still had the original toyota exhaust - including the rear silencer.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!
  • I had a couple of Tipos too, both DGTs, never had a problem. I must have been lucky.

HOWEVER, I did also own a 1.3 maestro. What an utter piece of crap.
My eyes! The goggles do nothing!

can't be the older Celica's. i prefer the Gen 6 model but they go forever.

76 Renault 4TL (12 volt) - bought at 4 yrs old and 25K on clock, covered 25K over next 5 yrs, replaced the battery and ....erm well that was it. Problem was inner wings rusted away.

87 Renault 12TL - bought at 2yrs old, 42K on clock, 120+K (or was it 140K) on clock when traded at 9yrs old, towed horsebox with it. Needed new front wheel bearings, fuel tank, 2 clutch cables. HRW never worked and steering was exceptionally heavy - otherwise great workhorse.

  • Dont think i've ever had a squib. I've only really paid buttons too (apart from recently).
1991 3.9 range rover in the drive, head gasket (one of them) went due to a blocked radiator (original gasket was rubbish). Fixed no probs for £55. Had an SD1 a couple of years ago (3.5 litre v8 auto) no problems. Loved my talbot samba, vauxhall chevette, rover 827's, nissan bluebirds, vectra.
Most hated's prob's the wifes 1.4TDCI fiesta 03 plate. Had loads done to it, getting sold in the new year.
  • Oh an capri's, i'd love one. 2.8 or bigger.
