hi i'm planning on following an old slimming club diet (the club went belly up years ago) which i've twice lost 3 1/2stone on. I've tried WW and stalled after half a stone and on SW i gained weight which wasn't the plan. i braved the scales recently and was less than expected and hadn't managed to reach my max weight again which is good. I'm also planning on doing some walking to get the exercise in ie park as far away from my office as possible and i'm going to work my way up the staircase rather than take the lift. Small steps

    Hello again :)

MrsPitcher2B, thank you and congrats on your impending wedding too.
Talking of the tummy training, where I work we have the radio on a lot and I decided every time I hear a song by a group or artist that is over the age of 35 I would suck my stomach in for the duration of the song, I would do the same thing when we had the music channels on at home, or as I am listening to toons as I sit on my lappy.
Well last night at work it must have been a granny-a-thon on the radio (over 35s please do not take this the wrong way, I am 36 myself:rolleyes:) after six hours of Madonna, Kylie, Jennifer Lopez, Beatles, Beach Boys, Tom Jones etc my stomach muscles were begging for forgiveness.
This afternoon I have Britney on my laptop, I need a rest.

Jolly, yes hurry up and get your diary updated, we all love noseying in other folks scribblings. Try pulling your stomach in on the hour and every hour for five mins while you are sat at your desk, it might become a good habit then.

Hiya LemonTree, What diet were you following when you lost 3.5stones TWICE!...well done you. Yes, small steps is the way to go, if we do too much at once I think we can get overwhelmed and disillusioned and find it easier to give up.
I walked home from work today, it takes an hour, it was cold and I was so tired after working a night shift but I am so pleased now. I won't have to do any more exercise today and I saved the petrol money yay!

Well I have a pan of chick peas bubbling away on the stove, I am using them to make a chick pea and chicken salad for tomorrows lunch and then a big pan of chicken and chick pea soup for the freezer.
I cooked a chicken last night so it will be doing that rubbery thing and bouncing its way across several meals. So far I have planned the two meals above and a chicken curry plus a simple roast chicken dinner tonight. The dogs will be sharing the skin (as I am being sooooo good dieting) and the bones shall be stewed to make a nice stock.

I put my wages in the bank yesterday but haven't paid off any debts yet as I am just waiting for my Paypal funds to go in before I decided how to share them out, I can't wait to update my signature when I have. It's quite exciting paying off debts, almost as much fun as spending it in the first place.

My O/H (who got clothes for Christmas) has been making noises about buying some jeans and a few jumpers. Before he managed to get the words out "but it's the sales" I said, "No chance matey, it's a debt crunch year for me and you, so if you want jeans...it's Dove House Hospice charity shop for you." Cruel of me really as I know he won't step foot in a charity shop..."it's too embarrassing"...so it's tough titty he will have to wear one of the 12 pairs he has already got. ;)
  • Good luck with your challenge. I shall keep an eye on your thread especially with your weightloss as I will soon be joining you-my 2nd baby is due in a couple of weeks and I think I will be left with 28 stubborn pounds to lose as well!

Oh congratulations Becks X x :T Are you having a boy or a girl?

Yes baby weight is a bit of a sod to shift, but my sis dropped two stone in a matter of weeks by breast feeding.

Good luck for the birth, not that you'll need it...it's all worth it for the gorgeous bundle you get at the end.

I have also decided that tonight is the last night we are having our Christmas decorations up, it will save on electric and I am fed up of Xmas cards cluttering up the place and the dogs knocking baubles off the tree with their wagging tales.

The cards I will put away to be clipped up later in the year, I am doing the old DFW trick and making them into gift tags.
I have already put away recycled Xmas bags from this year and I have a spare Xmas pud with the best before date of Jan 2010 so that will be maturing nicely until next year.:rotfl:

Not so good news, our £850, 18 month old Tv has dying pixels and according to the other half...they are ruining his TV watching pleasure, personally I can't tell a difference but according to him there are definite strips of uneven colour on the pitch as Hull City play Aston Villa. Awww diddums me thinks  .

basically the diet is just calorie control, there's nothing you really can't eat which is good as i'm addicted to chocolate. That's going to be my challenge really, reduce portion sizes and stop eating so much chocolate, and also get up off my fat back side and do some exercise.
  • Dont normally advertise companies, but this is great to use the 24hr free trail, jsut make sure you have plenty of paper and ink in your printer before you sign up for it.

I actually used it to help me gain weight. It's great in the fact it tells you how many calories you use up just doing house work. There is thousands of meals on their. Most ingredients have all dietary info on (I input a few asda basics info few years back) It gives you all the basic information you require, suggests safe weight loss goals, and you chose how to do your own diet (yes real food diet).
When I can afford it again, will be subscribing again to help gain that last stone.
You are offered 3 choices, gain, maintain or loss, once you put all your details in, it will show you the options that are safe for you. For me it will not show a loss option.

  • Thanks Bam-don't know what I am having yet-I love surprises so we didn't find out. I'm having a planned c section this time as the little monkey is breech-so on the plus side no labour but not relishing the 6 weeks of recovery afterwards-I'm such a control freak that I really don't like relying on people!

Hiya Rags, my recipes are from http://www.gillianmckeith.info/yourbody/food/gillianmckeithrecipes.php
    and http://www.vegsoc.org/cordonvert/recipes/
I like pulses, however they can make you a bit windy when you start eating them. :o
My Paypal money still hans't gone in so I am still waiting to dish my money out. If it's not in by the 2nd I will do it anyway...it's not sad waiting for payday to pay your debts off, it's the start of a new properous you! :T

Lemon Tree, I loves ma chocolate too but I can't stick at a few pieces...it has to be a huge bar...so I am not eating it at the moment, it's just too tempting to pig out.

This afternoon I am going to work until 10pm so even though I don't like work, it will stop me going out and spending this evening. I shall probably see the New Year in with a horlicks (low fat of course) and a good movie. My brother is trying to get me to go to his local as they are having a late lock in but I am at work the next day and the ale isn't free. He calls me boring...well if paying off your debts is boring I will spend a whole lot of 2009 being boring...after spending most of 2006/07/08 having a jolly good time on my credit cards. My brother is has 30 grand of credit card debt but hasn't had his light bulb moment yet. I have tried to gently coax him but he blanks any mention of "debts" and changes the subject...I just hope he doesn't end up losing his house.

Anyways on to a brighter subject, it's the last day of 2008 and I hope you all end the year the same way you intend to start the new one, with love and joy in your life, with frugalness as your middle name and debt freedom around your next corner.

    Have a great evening,

    All the best
