My Debt Free, Lose Weight & Be Super Frugal Diary 2009

I have three main things I want to do in 2009 and have decided to keep a diary of my progress.
We (me & o/h) have £15'000 of credit card and catalogue debts and we want to spend the most of 2009 paying these off before we start trying for a baby at the end of the year...I don't want to be pregnant and in debt.
I also want to lose two stone (maybe three) in weight during the next few months and need to do this as DFW as possible so we don't add any further to our debts.
Oh...and I get married in March...and that needs to be as frugal as possible too. I originally costed it at £4000, I now have it down to £2000...and I shall be nipping and tucking it more during the next 10 weeks.
So, this is my Debt Free, Lose Weight & Be Super Frugal Diary 2009...let the games begin. :T

Crikey that's quite a list you have there missus.
Best of luck with it all
Couple of things - I think that there is some kind of thread on here for people who are trying to lose weight but don't want to pay out all the WeightWatchers [STRIKE]ransoms[/STRIKE] subscriptions, can't remember what it's called though. Sorry!
Debt-free, we can help with though!
Good luck!0 -
Thank you Fresian...Yes, I shall be a busy bunny this year.
I will have a look at the Weight Watchers thread and pick up some free tips...I am also going to plan my meals in advance and take up as much FREE exercise as possible to help with the weight loss.
I am starting my super frugal and weight loss plan tomorrow, Why wait until 2009?
I will be sending all my Xmas boxes of chocs (given as gifts) to the local hospital so I am not tempted to eat them, I will go through the food cupboards to list what grub we have so I can plan healthy meals and I shall be walking the paws off our three dogs to kick start my free exercise regime.
I am also going through our finances and doing some serious pruning...I want to be a wise spending, money making, financial whizz.

Well I started day one well...rolled out of bed at 11.30am, so no heating and electric for a fair few hours plus I really enjoyed my rare lie in.
O/H had already taken my chocs to the local hospital on his way to work so I have no need to worry about any temptation.
I have checked my banking online, checked for surveys and polls and looked on Freecycle for any baby stuff. It's very slow on Freecycle at the moment, I think people are busy having a life over the Christmas period lol. :rotfl:
I have been down the freezer and store cupboards and reckon we have enough food for meals until January 2nd, so about a week. I shall do an Asda order later after I have made a meal plan. My aim is to spend no more than £60 on two weeks worth of groceries.
We shall not need to order any toiletries, after Christmas I think we will be safe until mid-summer...particularly shower gel and deodorant, my O/H got 6 Lynx sets. :T
I have just made lunch, I opened a huge bag of brown rice and had that with a chicken salad. It was really nice but the rice took ages cook. I will have to persue the Old Style board to see if there are any ways to cook it quicker as it costs a lot to keep the pan on the gas for 40 minutes at a time. I am also wondering if you can batch cook rice and freeze it for a later date...I have heard that rice can be bad for you if not consumed straight after cooking. I will have to investigate as I want to use the rice up because it's tasty, low fat, good for you and I don't want to waste it.
I am really not in the mood to exercise today, but I really must. I can't kick start my two stone weightloss plan with a day of slobbing around. I think an hours dog walk is on the agenda followed by a good floor mopping...that should get the blood pumping.
Well it's 2pm, so far so good...tonight I am going to tackle our SOA. :eek:0 -
So a good start - as you say, why wait until 2009 when you are itching to get started right now!

I have done my Asda online order for next week, it came in at £55 (for a fortnights worth of stuffage) and I also found a code for free delivery woo hoo, currently they are like gold dust.
I have had a problem with my laptop and over the last few months it has gradually got worse. Today, I resigned myself to taking a trip to the PC repair shop and having to pay a costily repair bill but after surfing the net I managed to trouble shoot the problem and fix it myself. Wow! isn't the net fabulous! :T I didn't think I was IT minded at all and now I am fixing laptops :rotfl: ...with a big help and a big thank you to an IT forum and the wonderful peoples on there.
I did two washes on 30 degrees and dried them on the airer rather than in the tumble dryer, that should save some money too.
I have also managed to get 2.5hrs over time extra for later in the week, as the Tesco ad says: Every little helps.
As far as getting rid of some of this excess puppy fat, I have wrote my "diet" menu out for tomorrow and I am intending to walk to work (takes an hour) to burn some fat.
Well day one has been most productive.
Roll on tomorrow.
