I Sold a Ps2 package on ebay end of 28th Nov which was fully working and tested - now buyer is claiming it is faulty?
message i received: Hello i recently purchased a ps2 off you and was quick to give you positve feedback as it arrived very quickly but i didnt try it to see if it worked as i wrapped it straight up for my daughters christmas present, when i tried to set it up today it doent work, please could you advise me how we will sort this out.
The item wasd sold fully working when it left here - what to do?
Have a feeling they are going to put a claim in too.
Some people - what happened to honest ebay - instead of people always trying to pull a fast one.
what do i do now?

you seem more interested in brushing them off0 -

I once sold a games console and exchanged about 5 emails with the buyer explaining to them exactly how to set it up. In the end it all worked out ok buyer happy and me happy as seller with + feedback.0

in the summer i bought a nintendo wii from e-bay on opening the box,a pin from the power pack plug fell out the box before i could use it,so no way i could test it,to see if it worked,i informed the selelr, who straight away said i weas pulling a fast one,i opened a paypal claim, and they sided with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i couldnt beleive it,so ended up out of pocket as i had to buy another power pack, and got bad feedback out of it alsoLive in my shoes for a week, then tell me your lifes hard!0

ok.....look at the scenario,
you buy your daughter a "second hand " Ps2 from ebay on the 28th nov for christmas, do you:
A/ once received , test it , have a play on it, make sure its fine, yeah great, i shall leave positive feedback. OR
B/ once received, leave positive feedback, wrap it up for christmas, then open it up on christmas day, to find it does NOT work.
Not hard to answer, what everybody else would do.
SADLY ebay is now full of fraud + tricksters, people will try anything to get a refund, or something for nothing.
Basically he's trying it on, he's probably seen a brand new PS2 in a sale today, and thinks i'll get a refund off you !! Or his daughter on christmas day, opened the present , and does'nt even want a PS2 !!! whatever the REAL reason is, he's trying it on.
Again there are 2 scenarios.
1/ you ask him to return the item - for a refund . His little scam worked !
2/ live life by principles - you know he's pulling a fast one, and fight it !!!!!
IF you choose Number 2 ( i would ) worse thing that can happen is he puts a dispute in with paypal , who will review the full case , and then decide the outcome, if he wins, he gets a refund, if you win great.
FACTS:
you sent the item fully working + tested !!
He left you postive feedback !!!!!!! (so in theory all must have been well, when he received the item)
He has already left positive feedback, so you CANT get negative.
Second hand items do NOT have a warranty !! however they must be as described, so must work fine when he actually receives the item, If it blows up 2 weeks later.......... tough. Second hand items are sold as seen.
If this does go to a paypal dispute, they will look at the whole picture, and all the facts.
Its very rare that a buyer wins a paypal dispute, once positive feedback has been left. as in theory all was well, hence he left positive.
basically message him back stating your side:
item was fully working + tested, when i sent the item to you.
you gave me positive feedback, so all must have been well.
you've had the item now 4 weeks, you should have tested the item, the day you received it !! had it not worked when you received it, then a full refund would have been given then !! sadly not 4 weeks after.
i should have been notified within 7 days , if there was a problem or a fault.
If you did not Test the item, sadly that is your fault, not mine
I cannot give a refund for an item i sold 4 weeks ago !!!
Second hand items - do not come with warranty.
make sure he knows ,you will not be giving a refund, stand firm , and argue you point.
if he his trying it on , he may just give up, as he realises his plan is not working.and you are not going to fall for it (many do and give a refund)
if he is persistant, he will open a paypal dispute,Paypal will decide the outcome.after looking at the full facts of the case.
worse case scenario for you is, he wins , then returns the item to you for a refund.....
in that case you have no option, you will have to refund the guy,
Take your chance.......Only give him a refund if he wins the case, and paypal say you must do it.
you've nothing to loose, dont give a refund now. let it go to a dispute, then a judge decide, if paypal say you must give a refund,,, fair play. but only do it at the last resort.0 -
