I am pretty sure that I have seen people on here do it that way, I think there was something in the last week about a fake Nintendo DS. Best thing to do is phone trading standards and ask them.

Will do Jo. Thanks. Also waiting for the ever elusive Paypal to respond:rolleyes:.

After bombarding Paypal with emails and sending them extensive proof that the straighteners were fake and sold by a third-party hacker, Paypal have ruled in my favour and I have finally got my money back!!!

Luckily that false email account must be used en masse so they were able to recover the funds!!

    Will I use ebay/Paypal again?! Well..It's put me off:rolleyes:

Thanks to all posters (except the troll) for the helpful and patient advice xxx

Sorry to bump but I have an UNBELIEVABLE update!

Even though Ebay has confirmed the account was hacked by a third party, this third party (a Chinese criminal) has sent a package and provided a tracking number.

It's guaranteed that the GHD's will be counterfeit. Not only that, but Paypal are refusing to listen and I will have to PAY out of my own pocket to send the package back to China in the hope of getting a (much diminished) refund!!!

Not really fair is it considering (to my knowledge) I bought the item from a lady in Yorkshire with 100% positive feedback!

Does anyone know if it's worth contacting the police or even the small claims court?

It could be worth contacting the makers of GHDs, explaining that paypal are aiding the importation of fake goods by criminals, which is possibly money laundering?

    Also speak to trading standards.

Problem is that Paypal have moved away from the UK to escape UK legislation, so there's little anyone can really do other than try to stop them operating in the UK.

Thanks for the advice anyway Dave, there will be someone in a similar position to the one I was in and hopefully they'll use it;)

    I'm delighted thanks!

I've contacted trading standards for advice on what to do with them. I didn't want to just thow them away in case someone thinks they've stumbled in a bargain and ends up electrocuting themselves or something!!
