  • sorry I keep posting but keep coming up with ideas. I don't know where you all get your stuffing from for sock monkeys and dammit dolls or what not. I'm still new to it all and experimenting and didn't want to go and buy a big bag of stuffing.

So I was wondering if it was a good idea to go to charity shops and buy old teddies, give them a wash and use the stuffing out of them? Obviously I would go for the really old tatty teddies as I couldn't bring myself to open up a cute one. Anyone know if this would work or not?

Hi s_michaels, I bought a huge bag of stuffing years ago and it's still going, but next time I need some, I'm going to try buying a cheap pillow and using the stuffing from that. I'm sure it's considerably cheaper and should be just as washable.

s_michael - thanks. I'm in the Lincoln area but afraid I'm miles away from the nearest Morrisons. They're lovely little pots:j

Love the patterns for the dog and cat............:T

I bought a small bag of stuffing from our little sewing shop and a cheap cushion from one of the charity shops so its worth looking at cushions........seems a shame to dismantle a teddy if there's another option.

  • Me again I am afraid, sorry, for the snowman soup, what flavour hot chocolates do you use? Going along the theme of white for snowmen I thought white chocolate would be best. I know that tesco's have got the options sachets at 5 for £1 at the moment and they do the white chocolate ones.

Oh and the expiry date is something like march 2010

  • sorry if you are getting fed up of me posting but I have another query. I posted a couple of links, one for a scottie dog and one for a cat ( few posts up i think), I want to make a set of these each as drawer scents. What do I use for the stuffing to make them smell nice, or can i just soak the stuffing in watered down scents and let it dry before stuffing?

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

You can use any hot chocolate, tailor it for the recipient eg I love the ginger and cinemon ones but most people, if I am not sure of which they prefer receive the belgian chocolate one,
As for the scented stuffing youcan use dried lavender so I assume most pot purri will do, I have tiny bears hanging in the girl's rooms which I regularly dab with pot pourri oil to perfume their rooms
