Those rabbits and the soldier are so cute. Although I'm so tempted I'm going to put them off for a while as I've got a date with a ton of old greeting cards that I need to be dealt with.

Greenpixey, I used to make those innocent hats, you can get quite addicted to them.

I noticed someone mentioned Hama beads earlier up the thread. I made a few ornies with them in the past but haven't touched them in ages - got a massive tub of them. What do you all use them for?
I think it was me who started the conversation. Made some retro tea coasters to give to my sister for Christmas (see post 532 for picture)

They are lovely and I also like the idea of the box. I'd not thought of that before.

I orginally bought mine with the intention of designing cross stitch patterns but found the novelty wore off after making them up and whilst carrying them to be ironed, finding all the beads had fallen off

    Do you have any tips?

.... its a "scandinavian style" xmas tree -or so it says
Its about 3"..so a bit bigger than I was expecting (may use smaller hpi next time) ....but Im thinking that I could back them with some nice fabric and make xmassy scented dolly bag style pouches
    xmasdecfx6.th.jpg
..Im not used to doing little pictures -so Im quite enjoying this :jplus Its a good way to use up all the aida I have as I don't use it for my big pictures -so have a fair bit :p

I love that red tree, looks very good MrsMacawber. Given me an idea - I've got some red aida that I've never used so I could try a design in white thread.

Thanks very much for the offer but I've got a similar one that's a repeat design in a tablecloth pattern I have.

Black fabric. I don't know what is worse for me to use - the holes I can't see or the metallic threads which often break. However, I do have a pattern I would love to try out, it's a gold chandelier done on black - looks stunning on the coloured chart.

Do you get on with black then?

    Hi Angela

What a coincidence... I have a couple of xmassy booklets by rico -that are designs for putting on table cloths..I have ordered some extra threads so I can use some of the designs for decorations :p

I have a rico table runner in blues 34"x16" that is for sewing on -it was a gift -but I don't have blues in my house and don't know anyone who does ..so it sits untouched in my drawer:rolleyes: ..... I guess I could x stitch it and try and sell it...

I get on with dark fabrics.... I found that putting a bright yellow tea towel on my knee helps as it shows the hole up ;)
and metalic threads are a pain..the best ones I have found are "petit treasury braid" -I got them for doing my celtic ladies..they were more expensive -but they are beautifull-but no stretching and snapping and much less tangling :D

Love your red tree Mrs Mc, I really like that type of design and it's small too and I like small designs ;). I've done a couple of Xmas decorations before and thinking of stitching some more for gifts this year.

Think I may give the knitting a go and see how I get on, will let you know.. :D
 If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain
