Does anyone know where I could buy a big doll? I have a knitting pattern of some clothes which are so cute, I would love to knit them for a biggish doll. I have never seen dolls the size I want anywhere, only small dolls like Sindy or Barbie. My mother bought my sister and I one each when we were small and I loved mine so much. Anyone who does know, I would be delighted. Thanks in advance, Margaret.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

what sort of big doll are you after? We have dolls the size of newborn babies (annabell or baby born) or dolls the size of a 6-9 month old child lol (Roby & Rosy from argos or sally & Sam from zapf creations) or there are smaller than newborn but bigger the sindy with bratz & things like that. hope that helps a bit.

Also got a big bag of mohair, 5 balls of 4 different colours, so 20 balls in all for £1. Going to use them to make curly scarves, hats & gloves.
And not forgetting a brand new pair of Levi 501's for 50pMarried 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

Thanks very much bikerchick and helenhugs. I googled soft bodied dolls and got a few sites. The one I chose is called www.kiddymania.co.uk and it is very good and reasonably priced as well. I also ordered a few other things for a friend who is having her baby next month and there is a lovely range of stuff there. The doll I was after was about 12 to 14 inches in height, so am delighted to have been able to order this. Thanks again both of you for your help. What a great site this is, full of great people so helpful and kind and so nice:) Yes bikerchick I go to lots of charity shops too and love to have a good rummage round them. I go about once a week, and have bought loads of clothes patterns etc. Best wishes to you both again.xxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

What a coincidence... I have a couple of xmassy booklets by rico -that are designs for putting on table cloths..I have ordered some extra threads so I can use some of the designs for decorations
I have a rico table runner in blues 34"x16" that is for sewing on -it was a gift -but I don't have blues in my house and don't know anyone who does ..so it sits untouched in my drawer:rolleyes: ..... I guess I could x stitch it and try and sell it...
I get on with dark fabrics.... I found that putting a bright yellow tea towel on my knee helps as it shows the hole up
and metalic threads are a pain..the best ones I have found are "petit treasury braid" -I got them for doing my celtic ladies..they were more expensive -but they are beautifull-but no stretching and snapping and much less tangling
Thanks for the information about the tea towel - that's a good tip. Also the threads - I've not hear of them before.
About the blue table runner - I've got one that I bought in a charity shop, half made on one side in the most exquisite pattern - roses all round the outside, and I've decided to make it into a bag to put my nightdress.
To the lady asking for dolls. I'm glad you have found a nice site to buy some. I used to get mine through a craft catalogue at extremely cheap prices, and very good quality, but can't remember the name of the company - it was one of those that supplies schools and care homes.
bikerchick - you've got some brilliant bargains, well done, lucky thing.0 -

I have finished my 1st decoration that I started last night hoorahhhh :bounce:
.... its a "scandinavian style" xmas tree -or so it says
Its about 3"..so a bit bigger than I was expecting (may use smaller hpi next time) ....but Im thinking that I could back them with some nice fabric and make xmassy scented dolly bag style pouches
..Im not used to doing little pictures -so Im quite enjoying this :jplus Its a good way to use up all the aida I have as I don't use it for my big pictures -so have a fair bit
right off to do another one nowmight do a different design....
I love the cross stitch MrsMacawber, the red on white looks so good, It's been beautifully crafted.0 -
Do any of you ever make those intricate cut out pictures (you know on black paper) for Christmas?
I haven't done it in years and thought of giving it a go and wondered how on earth to go about it.0 -
Hi everyone,
sorry to be a pain but has anyone got any ideas that are gorgeous and perfect for a neonatal(sp??) unit, and for the childrens unit (in ashford)
I have decided that i really really want to help people and i want to be able to donate handmade items to families of sick children, newborns, premature babies and all their families. It would be ideal if it was free but if not as low cost as possible.
I not sure but i wondered if doing sock monkey's were a good idea, i haven't made anything yet, but i hope to start soon. I also thought about doing a memory journal with photos and headings (such as; 'Name, weight, how the parents felt, what happened next, traditions to set up etc), i not sure if this is a good idea and i will hopefully get a sample up to Ashford and explain my ideas.
What does everyone think?
..xx
Ps i saw the bunnies above and i would love all the details and patterns for them as they would be glorious keepsakes
..xxI am only me, no pretences, no second guesses.. It's the best I can do, I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you... I'm sorry I'm not good enough for you :A0 -
