Hi all, hope it's ok to join. I only just discovered this Special Occasions Forum, never noticed it before amongst the many on this site. Probably going to regret it knowing me as I've already got more than enough projects on the go LOL

Recently I've cut back on all my crafts and trying to finish UFO's (mainly cross stich and embroidery) and just keep on with my main hobby of dolls houses. But I like to work on Christmas decorations all year round and also make some Xmas cards.

Hope you catch up on all your projects.

No, not his year Anglea, but one year did do a Victorian style Christmas with tree, pressies, decs, table laden with turkey and food including Christmas cake etc even Father Xmas and sleigh, but just like in real life had problems with the tree lights!! I do lots of tapestry dolls house carpets, make and dress the dolls and make some of the furniture. I just found it was getting tooooo expensive to buy so had to turn to making it myself. Living in Spain now and they´re not really into this sort of thing out here

soblivion - have you still got your christmas cards - if you have just go through them and cut off the pictures you like and the words 'happy christmas' and you've got all you need...........except the card and glue....and you can add bits and pieces, whatever you like really.

Thanks mary, yes I have, I'm such a hoarder LOL I never thought of using them to make more cards. I am going to have another go. It was a long time since I tried, I'm hoping I'm a bit more patient and crafty now.
I'll put a pic over on the cards thread when I'm done. There's certainly some inspiration in there all the cards are so beautiful, I spent ages looking yesterday.

I look forward to seeing your card.........bet it'll be really good:j

Amazing what you can salvage from old cards. I always keep those that have been hand made - if someones gone to that much trouble I feel I should but the 'general' ones I cut off the greeting part and whatever pictures I like.
Best of luck.............you'll get no housework done now............:rotfl:

Brilliant bag chalky :T - love how you've done the handles on it.
I'm wanting to recycle an old jumper........wonder if those sort of handles would be ok for hit. Got to hand sew it.
    How did you do them?

    That's a lovely bag Chalky.

On the subject of recycling cards I thought I might try that method where you cut up cards into strips then re-lay them into shapes.

I had many failed attempts at cutting out circles from the cards and punching holes round the edges then crocheting. It didn't look good at all when I did it although I'd seen some nice pictures of others doing it on an online site.

Sandy2 - I've got a lot of Victorian dressed dolls. I used to have a Wild West Street (but it was within 2 houses) and a Victorian Wedding dress shop. Just put them away as I'm redoing all my scenes.

You mention living in Spain, I used to use a Spanish site with fantastic dolls house scenes. Can't remember the name of it now.
