It's really easy. Get a wire coat hanger, pull into a circular shape and then snip the hook part away. Twist the ends together. Then get your sweets, (they must have wrappers) and tie them to the wire frame (you can use string, ribbon or whatever you have to hand). Move them around to get them to look right. Once the frame is covered with sweets, you can decorate as you please. HTH

On another note, I've kind of found my led lights - they're not white though, but I think they will do - Tesco had some led lights which had jelly letters over them with the words "Happy Christmas". Pulled the letters off of the lights and now have a small set of multi-coloured ones and jelly letters for another project:D

Wanna-b-rich, your wreath looks amazing, who gets to eat it afterwards?

  • Love the sweetie wreath, wanna-b-rich and many thanks for the instructions. I'm predicting next Christmas there may be something similar in my house. Although not sure how long it will last...

I was thinking with the wire coat hanger, can you not leave the hook on at the top so it can be hung up easier? It looks great :)

Thank you. I suspect DD & DS will make short work of it. Have a spare tin of sweets for Christmas, so will give them something to look forward to in the new year.

I see no reason why not. It's just that by snipping the hook you get a circle frame to work with. As the top of the frame is "foo -foo'd" then I really don't think it will be a problem if it's not completely circular.
  • Well in my festive fundraising I have raised £110 at work in 2 weeks; people have been really generous. The snowman soups I put as £1.50 and they all went for people to give as gifts, I did the 'perfect man' with homemade gingerbread wrapped in cellophane with red curled ribbon and a nice tag with the poem on, they were £1.25 and all went bar one with a slightly wonky eye. I also made some of the 'present not included' (pair of batteriess with a tag, wrapped nicely) not so popular but all my snowman poop (leftover marshmallows with some glitter in cellophane with ribbon and tag) went, as did the p.e.n.c.i.l. (pencils worked out as 2p each so think that is the highest profit margin!) All of those were 50p each. I made some chocolate slabs last night, rocky road, dark chocolate mint and white chocolate with crushed candy canes, looked so pretty in the tins and went down well at £1 a slab. I would recommend this as it was really easy and I might do one in a cheap tesco value tin tray and make it 3 varieties again and just give the tray as a gift, looks very impressive!

All the money will be sent off to a charity in Guatemala and I have been able to indulge my crafty side without ending up with a load of useless stuff, win win :)

    Sian - well done :T

Well, I had a go at my twig tree................tried a bit of twisted willow but think it was too flimsy so braved the weather and got a branch off our dogwood bush...........took me most of the morning to thread the dried orange slices and chillies and hang them on but its done now:T I stuck it in some oasis in a terracotta pot and filled round the oasis with some pebbles and topped it off with a few bits of gold sprayed nuts and bits that were in a pot pourri dish.

Did last flannel reindeer -kept forgetting it, and managed to create a door hanger out of thick card for the young lad we used to foster who's calling tomorrow.

Just hoping now that the snow doesn't carry on over the weekend otherwise at this rate my son and grandchildren will get their stuff at Easter...........:rotfl:
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
