Thank you, Ariania!
I will be most interested to read the responses you get to see if they are the same as my TS officer's view. I would love to be proved wrong on this actually as I think making soap for a gift is brilliant.
As a certified and assessed cosmetic manufacturer, I would be only too happy to share recipes and ideas with all of you if I were convinced it would be legal to make and give them to your loved ones

jetty-kitchen safe
bottled sunshine
jar of rainbows
jar of stars
Last year I did a can of sunshine for grandson........it was just gravy tub, covered with paper of sunshine images, smiley sunshine on the lid and filled with sherbet lemons.
Can of rainbows I did for grandaughter - gravy tub covered with pictures of rainbows and rainbow image on lid and filled with multi colour sweets
Kitchen safe - did that for nearly everyone I think.
Empty kitchen jar (any size really), loo roll middle placed in the centre, dried beans/peas poured in round the side of the loo roll middle to keep it upright, little gingham covering on the lid and a food label stuck on and it was a 'hidey hole/safe' -somewhere to put spare keys, emergency fiver -anything really.
I did one for my son to keep in his shed and filled his with raw plugs, grandsons was filled with marbles and grandaughters with hair bobbles.
Very cheap and easy to make.
Can't help you with the star one thoughI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

to my knowledge a jar of stars is simply that. A jar of little origami stars.
If you google them you can get some basic and simple instructions, but if you ever made a paper water bomb as a kid, it's basically that with the sides pushed in to make a star shape.
If you have any glossy magazines or catalogues, this is a good use of them as they're bright and colourful thin paper (thin is easier to work) that are laminated so don't rip as easily.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -

That kitchen safe idea is excellent! I will have to give it a go...

The kitchen safe idea went down really well last year with my family..........forgot to do one for myself though.......maybe this year I will.
It has to be one of the cheapest gifts to make as most of the things used are stuff that are around the house anyway.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

can we leave the whole soap talk now as its going round in circles and taking away from the enjoyment of this thread. Kevie you have you point, youve made it and the girls here just want to get on and make things for Christmas - if we all promise not to mention handmade toiletries anymore can we please just get on and have some fun - if anyone gets a police record from dishing out handmade goodies then im sure they will come here and shout
*no offence meant at all - i just want to come on this thread and contribute to crafty things*

NEGirl, if you'd bothered to read what has been said then you would see that I have already said we should move on. It is you who is bringing it back up again, is it not?
Are you trying to say I'm not welcome because I'm male? ("The girls here...")0 -
If you read back up too you will see youve posted again twice since you said it so if youre wanting to play like that, or is that not the case???Win £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012
