I did something similar last year. I bought cheap packs of pint glasses from Tesco and circles of the grey oasis (the type for dried flowers) to fit the top of the glass from a pound shop. I also bought minstrels, malteasers and similar from 99p shop. For my husband who loves minstrels I filled most of the glass with minstrels, then put a layer of white choc sweets (I think they were called Moments) put a layer of cling film draped over the top of the glass, wedged the oasis in on top then trimmed off the excess cling film. I then wired curly ribbon and individual foil wrapped sweets, I used some white crumpled tissue paper to loosely cover the oasis then pushed the wires in through the tissue. In the end it looked like a pint with a head on it with sparkly bits on top. I can't find a picture but it looked quite good. I varied the sweets according to the tastes of the recipient.
You could also think of something simple like a photo box, it looks good, it is easy and inexpensive to make and can be decorated to suit anyone anyone from baby to grandparent.

Nope, just gave it as it was! The curly ribbons were stuck on diff sized skewers too. You could Cello it if you wanted!
Have asked OH to try to bring me home some wooden stirring sticks tonight when hes at work as he said they have them there. Will look out for the wooden skewers too, can't remember where I saw them now.0 -
might be hard to get skewers as it is no longer BBQ season lol! As I say - takes a deceptively large number of sweets, but I found cheapest way was buying 3 for £5 selection boxes! Also definitely need something solid for the base, a plastic pot wouldn't do unless you plaster of paris'ed it!

Yes thats a good point about the skewers. I will have a look round though and see what I can find. I am going to do them for my kids the youngest being 14, the other two are grown up so can use a nice glass. Will keep an eye out for the cheapest way of buying the sweets. I have enough points to get a box full off free snaks but think I would be better off saving the points until I have enough for the £10 Tesco voucher.0

I normally get my skewers in QD not sure if they have them all year round or not , or can you get them on e.bay ??
also the pound shop or farmfoods often do packs of the same bars of chocolate for £1 so you could buy different packs and split them up if you're making more than one chocolate bouquet0 -
Thanks sunrise77 I will have a look at the sweets next time I go up town. We have 99p store now.
The stirring sticks might be long enough for some bits and I might be able to stick them together with wood glue to make longer sticks if I can get them for free (hope OH remembers to bring some for me, have just sent him a text to remind him)0 -
hi guys
i bought some skewers from my local sainsburys a few weeks back, i found them during the summer when i realised they had them in the bbq section as well as in the cooking utensils sections (where they were cheaper, for the same amount!!!)0 -
