If you buy in soap, you can give it away or sell it but you need to make sure the original seller has a safety assessment to make it and the information on the original label is still present on the finished product so that whoever receives/buys it can read the information without opening it.

I have bought some strawberry soaps to decorate swissroll face flannels. I haven't sorted out adding photos here yet, but I know others make them, so you probably know what I'm talking about. I bought the soaps from a handmade soap maker, and they came in a bag with an ingredients sticker with batch number and address. I had scanned the ingredients to make a sticker to attach to the swiss roll label. My query is should I leave on the address of the maker or remove it and just keep the details in case there should be a problem? If someone used soap you made, in producing another item, would you expect to see your name on it. I leave the Sainsbury's etc labels on, so should I leave 'your' name on? I know I'm rambling here, put I would be grateful for your opinion. Thanks

    Hiya!

I know what you mean, it's so confusing. It is fine for you to use your own label. You can even re-design or re-type it but the maker's details MUST remain on there. I only put my postcode and website address on mine but other people use more. You are fine to just keep the postcode if you want. Basically, Trading Standards need to be able to see a label and know who to contact regarding the soap if there are any problems. If there are problems with the labelling they would try to come back to you but if it's to do with the formulation they need to be able to go directly to the maker so it's important to have at least a postcode to work on. By law, all soap makers need to register the fact they make soap with BERR, so the TS officer would be able to use this postcode to find out who made the soap.

I hope that's clear. If you need any more info (or more soap ;)) let me know!

Does any one has any ideas as to what i could do with white tiles. I have about 100 left over from re-doing our kitchen.

Also what pen do you use on the signs to do the wording, do you use a special pen or an everyday pen. I'd love to make a few.

Hello I am new to this thread but the pens you buy for decorating mugs etc would work. I have just been onto the Baker Ross website (sorry if I shouldn't put websites on here) and did a search for ceramic pens it brought up soe tiles and it says use their acrylic deco pens

    hope that helps

I use Pebeo 150 porcelaine paints and pens. After decorating cups etc leave 24hrs, they are touch dry quickly, then place in oven at 150C for 35 mins. They are even dishwasher proof after being baked in oven

Can i ask where you get the test tubes from, and also where did you get the box with the little dividers in i want to make a seed box for my sister in law as she loves gardening and will be able to keep all her seeds in order and that would be perfect.

ETA i have found the test tubes & card index box on ebay. But a bit of google searching and i have found some cheaper.

irishgirl - they look brilliant :T
And there's me thinking I'm being clever with my gravy tubs.....................lol

I must do something with the do card index boxes I've got............they don't need much doing to. They're just grey mottled effect so its just the 'customer records' bit on the top that I need to cover.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I was really struggling for ideas for my sister in law but thats her sorted for christmas now, a seed box filled with seeds found in the sales.

Gonna leave the test tubes for now as i have already made all my sweetie things and cant think of anything else to put into them at the moment.

Dont want to put any food stuff in them in case i end up killing someone, lol.

But thanks for the inspiration - i have now broken through the no ideas wall.
