Awh Sammy another person from Wales!!

My OH came home with some Oval beer mats over the weekend, couldn't believe it!
:xmassmile Looking forward to December:xmassmile
• :othis might sound really thick but how do you cover the beer mats so neatly

I don't know how others do it but I just lay the beer mats down on the paper (paper wrong side up) and draw round the mat then cut it out:D not very scientific but it works for me. I then just glue them on with some pritt stick;) The paper I used was from QVC, it is a book full of co ordinating papers meant for card making. I've had it for about 2 year and never got round to using the papers until now:rolleyes: I've also just used it to cover a wooden heart to hang in my bedroom but I'm not that keen on it so think I will do it again:D

I made a start on the Twilight mini drawers yesterday. I bought the original cardboard drawers in a charity shop, I have two sets the same size and used to keep bits in them for card making. They are quite samll, about 10 inches high and 4 across and with 3 drawers.

On close inspection I found that the tiny gold drawer handles unscrew and you can take them out. Then took all the bits out the garden and sprayed inside and out of the whole lot with some silver spray (OH had some left over for his car).

When this had dried I measured up the sides, back top and drawer fronts and went online to find some suitable pics which I managed to make the right sizes before printing out.

Have stuck on most of the pics but have run out of prit stick so off up town later to ge some more.

The drawer fronts were easy to do, just stuck the pic on then pierced the hole for the handle with a needle and replaced the handles.

I will be covering all the pics with some clear sticky back plastic which I already have left over.

Wont be putting photos on to show you as most of the photos would be copyrighted but hope you can see how easy it was to do. Would be great with any pics of fav stars, football teams etc.

Thanks , do you do it all the way round or just like one side
leaving the edges ?

No I don't cover the edges just cover both sides. I did see a tutorial were you can rub the edges with a sanding block to blend them in a bit, but I liked them the way they were and was frightened I would completely ruin them:eek::D

• Found these instructions, sound easy peasy :)

You Will Need Method
1. Turn the pudding basin upside down, so that it is resting on its rim. Place the record on top, so that both sides are exposed to the air (and later, heat).
2. Place the bowl, with the record still balanced on top, into the oven.
3. After a couple of minutes the record will become quasi-malleable. Despite being soft, the record can still be easily picked up with the bare hand; it won't be sticky. However, the pudding basin, or bowl, will be very hot so extra care is needed.
4. After five minutes of heating, the record will be pliable enough to bend into a bowl shape. This can be easily checked by inspecting the record with one's hand.
5. Quickly turn the basin over, so that it is the 'correct' way up2. Place the record on top of the pudding basin, and press the label down into it. Vinyl hardens very quickly, so this needs to be done as rapidly as possible.
6. The record will take the shape of the interior of the bowl, with its edges forming folds. After a minute or two, the vinyl will cool leaving a rigid bowl

Thanks Claire i am going to try one today:D

Hello, hello everyone. Whilst I was mooching around the shops when I was away on holiday last week, I saw something which would be brilliant to copy .... they were called 'coin catchers' (or something similar), and were made from a long colourful sock which had been glued to a china face - you hang it up and are supposed to throw your coins into its mouth.

I'm not explaining this terribly well, and have just had a google around to try and find a picture but they don't seem to be all that common. I found this :

1K012%20Coin%20Catcher%20Bee.JPG

which shows how the open end of the sock is fitted around the china face. There are some other examples here :

I thought they might not be too hard to craft for myself, maybe making a face out of baked salt dough with a bit of a rim to the back of it, and then glueing the top of the sock around this rim. I might experiment with this at the weekend to see how I get on.

The shop I saw them in was selling them at £10 each!

(also: while googling to try and find pics of these coin catchers, I found pictures of baby socks which had a purse clasp sewn to the top of them, which were really cute! They'd be easy to do, and look like this: http://www.littlemissmatched.com/Catalog/change-purses)

Re the coin catchers, you could applique a felt face over a stiff board backing............
