    Anyone into making candles .......

I was in Wyvale garden centre yesterday and noticed some candles that they were selling ..... a box of eggs!!!
If you imagine an egg box with soft boiled eggs in, complete in their shells with the tops cut off ....... white candle wax complete with a yoke.
    They looked really good :D

sethsgran -thanks for the links. Might just have a try at those

shegrinch - thanks for the links -I'll try looking later -keep getting 'page cannot be displayed'...........comp. playing up I think:confused:

Candy - oh I'd get in a right mess if I tried to make any I just know it....lol
I was going to put some tea lights in an egg box for easter but never got around to it.

Have snatched mayonaisse jar (empty) from OH so he doesn't recycle it.............lol Its about the right size for a 'pot of snowballs' -even the lid is white :j

jollymummy - welcome and enjoy although i will warn you with the amount of ideas that are thrown in here your list will triple within about a week.

Anyone have any ideas - I have loads of jars that were meant o be put aside for jam making last year but are now just sat about - I'm thinking of doing some biscuit mixes but they are only small jars so would this work??? Think the small jars of tesco jam is the size.

Any other ideas what i could do with them??

Haven't managed much else craft wise lately as 'baby' Benjamin turned 5 yesterday! Although whilst speaking to my nan she mentioned she'd love a picture of me, Ben, my sister and her two girls together and i had some nice frames reduced the other month - then bent wooden looking ones from wilko - large one was down to 50p and think i got 2/3 so might do one for dad, one for mum and one for nan. and boyfriend did a photography course so it will be a proper picture. : ) bargain.

    I bought some insul-bright a while ago from http://www.doughtysonline.co.uk/insul-bright-sku1255.html
I've just looked it up and it's cheaper than patchwork corner (£2.45) and the postage is about 50p.
I made some square pot-holders, but my mum said they weren't thick enough, and the heat got through. I'm going to have to try again - thinking of adding a square of old blanket to the insul-bright in the middle to see if that is any better.

Doughtys also do 'road shows' around the country in church halls etc. see http://www.doughtysonline.co.uk/roadshow-diary.html . I went to one several years ago and the fabric was very cheap.

    Hope this helps

sammy - some ideas for your jars

Pots of gold -fill them with gold wrapped chocs/sweets,bit of ribbon round the top and a verse added (theres a thread 'ditties and verses' somewhere)

Pots of snowballs - white marshmallows, white bonbons, or white maltezers........similar thing with the ribbon and theres a verse on Mels Christmas thread for that

Jar of sunshine (did this last year with sherbet lemons
    Rainbows in a jar - multi-coloured sweets

(I used gravy granule tubs for the last two and decorated them with piccys from internet.)

Snowman soup........loads of variations on that -sorry can't remember which site it was on

Safekeeping jars - toilet roll middle in the centre, dried beans all around it, label of some sort and a pretty cover for the top (depending on who its for) -general idea is for spare keys, emergency fiver or something, to be kept in it.........I did one last year for my two sons...........one had raw plugs in it to keep in the shed for spare key, the other had dried beans, gingham top and a kitchen type label for sons wife to pop into her cupboard.
Even the grandchildren had them.........grandaughter had one filled with hair bobbles and grandsons was full of marbles.
    Very cheap to do.

    Hope that helps..............:j
