Afternoon All
Sorry to hear you are not well Taplady and Taplord. Elona - hope DD is better soon, next year delegate all the cooking and sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy.
Yorkshire chick - Hope all goes well tomorrow.
Quiet day today, cleaned through and made it like home again. DS out on his Boxing Day booze-up - We had a year or two like that Tru it does come back eventually, though we always collected DS to ensure he was home early enough to get up by 10am Xmas Day, even if he had to return back to bed after lunch. We have now realised while we love seeing DS - the house is far tidier when he is away. Doing 3 loads of washing today getting him caught up, think I must be mad.
Going round to a neighbours around 7 pm so will relax again then . . .

Afternoon all :santa2:
I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, congratulations to Yorkshirechick and her DH to be! Good luck for tomorrow.
Elona - I found manuka honey helped my DD2 with her sore throat, she didn't like the taste though
Very lazy day here, chez Morwenna - however I have a new Kenwood food processor from DD1 which is singing "use me, use me..." :rotfl: so turkey & ham pie for tea, with processor pastry - perhaps heavy machinery will make my pastry bearable at last
Spent all day reading Terry Pratchett's Nation, a pressie from DD2, finished itit was excellent.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to all that need them.0 -
Thank everyone for the support.
DD has had her tonsils out and if not better tomorrow will try to convince her to go to walk in health centre. We phoned the emergency Dr and she suggested keeping on with painkillers as it sounds viral.
Going to see how fruit loaf is doing in the panny - smells good so far!"This site is addictive!"

Nice relaxing day. We walked down to local shopping street for a bit of fresh air and had a coffee out. Nice change. My sis and OH came to my parents' for lunch. cheeseboard and other nice things. I cleared up.
Did a bit of knitting this afternoon and read stuff on here for a while as well. Listened to dad's new Kings Singers carols CD. Nice relax. COld turkey for tea. last of the christmas pud, syrup sponge and rum sauce.
Mum says we can take some of the meat I stripped from the turkey carcase yesterday. pastry is in freezer, so that will be a quick meal to sort. Going onto easy catering when we get home. Smoked salmon from the freezer. You know the sort of thing!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Evening all
Busy day here today, we had all 4 of my kids over plus partners & kids, lots of lovely pressies & a huge dinner. It all went well, we've just finished clearing up & now going to veg out in front of the TV.
Have a great day tomorrow, Yorkshirechick.
Hugs Hester

Hi all - hope everyone is OK and (((hugs))) to those who are unwell. I've had such a lazy day and plan to laze about this evening watching Pirates in a minute. Have carved the rest of the turkey and have enough for several meals plus tomorrow's Jamie Oliver pie (which I will report on, Merrywidow!). We've eaten loads of cake and choccies and had a quick cold meat salad for tea so I'm feeling very full up.
I haven't been to the sales; I never feel like doing even more shopping after Christmas! I'm sure there'll be bargains around for the rest of the year, anyway.
Anyway, Johnny Depp beckons so see you tomorrow!

Hello All. Good luck with your wedding YorkshireChick. Hope all that are under the weather make a speedy recovery. Today we went and had lunch with my in-laws and attempted to play Christmas Carols on whistles from the crackers. We played a few games on the Wii and then went home. Had a cold tea. Looking for inspirations to use up the beef. Any suggestions welcome.0

Slice it thinly and add fresh veg like carrots, peppers, onions and mushrooms with some soy sauce, honey or brown sugar and ginger for a nice stirfry. Cube up the rest of the beef and make a stew/casserole with leftover veg. Slice thinly and cover with gravy then freeze in single serve portions for a quick and easy heat up on a busy night. Slice in strips and make beef stroganoff.
