    Afternoon peeps

Happy Boxing Day :rudolf: :xmassmile :santa2: :xmastree: :xmassign:

Glad to hear that everyone had a great Christmas. Yesterday went really well and all the food turned out lovely - the dishwasher really earned it`s keep :D

I did the whole lot from start to finish and got up at 4am to do all the prep so that everything would be ok and i was really pleased with the results. We all fell asleep after dinner including the houndies :o

Today is a very lazy day. there are lots of things that i could be doing but i`m not going to do any of them :D i shall make tea later but it will be mainly cold things out of the fridge like pate and toast or crackers and pork pie with pickles and gherkins YUM!

Lovely and sunny outside but VERY cold BRRR! the sun is streaming through the windows as i type and the sky is lovely and blue - really lifts the spirits.

Mioliere - I was really pleased to hear that the LO had made it home for Christmas, what a wonderful time for her parents.

((((HUGS)))) for any poorlies still out there - i hope that everyone was well enough to enjoy the festivities!

There are heaps of gifts all over the place here, one of the best gifts was an enormous box from Mum which is full of goodies. Everything from choccies to tea bags and is a really useful and fantastic prezzie, i also have some gift vouchers to put towards the much coveted kenwood chef from various members of the family and a set of wonderful books about growing veg :D

Mr Sunny has just taken a heap of things upstairs to find places for but i`m not moving, i`m taking a leaf out of the houndies book and i shall have an hour online and then settle down with one of my new books for the afternoon.

Have a wonderful relaxing day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    hello all!

I hope you have all enjoyed Christmas. Taplord and I have both been poorly with the flu type bug and have been coughing, sneezing and noseblowing away plus have had no energy or appetite - not even opened the choccies!
Supposed to go back to work tomorrow but will have to see how I feel.
We plan a cosy afternoon in front of the fire watching the horseracing on TV.
Am off to read the thread now.

    Take care all xxxx

    Morning :santa2:
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day, and santa brought you all you wished for :xmassmile
Kathy - I am so pleased to hear the LO was home for Christmas

CONGRATULATIONS - Yorkshirechick - have a wonderful wonderful day tomorrow, I hope the weather is kind to you  :kisses2: :smileyhea  :happylove :happyhear

We had a busy Christmas Day as usual, but the 2 Mum's enjoyed it, and that's the main thing, we were sitting at dinner and I looked at them both, chatting away, and realised how frail they both looked, they are both in their late 80's still quite chirpy, but very doddery now.
They went home happy and full of food, with a couple of food parcels each to keep them going through the next few days.

I feel so lucky to have such a lovely family, we had a really magical day together.

We both had so many presents, DS2 and DIL bought me Radley Purse,I was shocked and delighted when I opened it, DS1 and DIL bought me a Liz Earle set,(both presents I would'nt have bought for myself because of the expense) earrings from MIL,money from my Mum, a new watch from OH,various other things from friends, perfume, handbag, bath and shower goodies. O and BIL gave me a Cerruti 1881 gift set ,for looking after him for the last few weeks, very unexpected and I was really touched.

Well, Lunch today is Turkey/Beef/Veg leftovers from yesterday and dinner will be whatever we fancy but it has to include salad and pork pie, I am determined this year not to waste anything....I have learned such a lot from all of you on here. Thanks :T :T :T
To all the poorlys I hope you feel better soon xxxxxxxxx

Good luck to Yorkshire chick and DH2be for tomorrow
Taplady -hope you and taplord get well soon.

Glad most peoples day went well.I have to say that all the preparing well in advance meant I had the easiest Christmas day ever, and I will def be doing that in future. The only actual cooking on the day was some sausages in bacon, and a roasted sweet potato, butternut squash, carrot and onion dish roasted in the Remoska when I got worried there werent enough veg.Little niece loved her pressies as did everyone else.
Leftovers today yum.Been for a nice long walk-cold though, and I slipped on my backside in the mud!
    Time to chill xxx

  • Afternoon, all. I know I barely post here ( I used to, but life got so busy it was hard to keep track where I had and hadn't posted :( ) but I wanted to pop in to say that I hope everyone had a good Christmas and is relaxing a little now. We're going to pop to the sales shortly to see if there are any bargains to be had, and also to satisfy curiosity as to how busy it'll actually be. I'm hoping to get back to being more OS now and in the New Year, so I should be around more often.

Sorry for not being around more :(

I spent most of Christmas morning asleep and trying not to be sick so DD(23)and the rest of the family made the lunch.

It was fantastic - she even made side dishes of caramelised onions and red cabbage and leeks and bacon in cheese sauce. If not for the fact that I remembered to make stuffing balls at the last minute I would feel redundant.

Have made a rapid loaf in the panny and everyone is scoffing it while it is warm- a fruit loaf is baking and I will Remoska some onions, parsnips, leeks and leftovers for tonight.

DD(19) has had really swollen glands and sore throat for a few days and is in pain so trying to get her to take hot lemon etc or it.

Does anyone know a foolproof and simple recipe for a nice fruitcake? I need to "raise my game" after the excellent job family did without me!

Hello everyone, I hope that you had a good day yesterday and are now relaxing and enjoying Boxing Day too?

Really enjoyed yesterday, cooked for my folks, my sis & brother and of course my DH ;) All went well and everyone enjoyed the food, especially my Mum, who didn't have to worry about a thing in the kitchen for a change!

We didn't watch the telly all day, instead chatted around the table and then had a game of Trivial Pursuit - the ladies v the men! After playing for a couple of hours, both teams had 6 pies, so we called it a draw! :T :T :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope that Santa was good to you all and that you all got lovey presents?

Enjoy the rest of the holiday

Check whether she has white spots on the sides and back of her throat Elona - if so it's tonsilitis and she should get herself to the Docs (if open tomorrow) or A&E for anti-B's.
