Hi Everyone.
We had a lovely day with my parents yesterday - came home about 5pm as we were all tired and youngest ds didn't want to miss Dr Who. Relaxing day today with my closest friend coming round for a slump with the tv this afternoon. Both our dh's are working so it'll just be us and the kids - not hers though as he's gone to his Dad's.
Turkey sorted into portions for meals, some this week and some for the freezer for later. WM done & stuff drying so I've just got to get dressed & have a quick tidy up.
Also got my much neglected cross stitch out last night & did some so going to try to do a couple of hours every day over the holidays.
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all
We had a lovely day yesterday with friends and my mum here we got just the right amount of food we really cut back this year and it has worked out just fine despite my fears that their would be hungry people at the dinner table.
kids are still not up we will go for a walk later
had loads of goodies 2 cds i wanted we had loads of choccies someone gave my 3 kids a large tin of quality street/celebrations each:eek: i only bought 2 tubs of celebrations this year as the others all get left after the good ones have been eaten so i now have 5 big tins of choccies:j

Good Morning Everybody. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We had a great time despite my reservations that it might be a hard day (my ex boyfriend passed away in february so it was my daughters first Christmas without her dad). In laws were genuinally over the moon with their pressies and my daughter was jumping about with excitement. And Dr Who was on telly - Wahey!!
Best of all I got a bread maker!! Not everyones idea of a Christmas pressie but it was what I really wanted. :T
Planning on using the leftovers to make Jamie O's turkey and leek pie today.
I went a bit mad on the Boots sale but its all meant for next years birthday presents so my spending was well intentioned!
Going to do a little bit of washing and tidying but today is a day off for me.
Hugs to everybody having sad times.
Hope everyone has a good day,

Morning all - sounds like you all had a lovely day - well except the Truettes who missed most of it LOL
I had a brilliant day - Mr Caring Sharing brought the girls and dgs to see me with a much needed food parcel. They stayed about an hour and then dropped me off to the shelter for my shift.
Some minor emergency at the shelter meant that i had to liase with a bunch of firemen in the tiny office ...... oh thank you santa - just what i wantedIn the evening Bill Oddie came with his wife and daughter and entertained the guests - it was brilliant and everyone loved it. I haven't had any turkey yet as we ran out - although all the guests had a proper christmas dinner of course - i did manage to get some pudding though
todays plans are .... more of the same - enjoy your boxing day
stefI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

Happy Boxing day everyone - glad to hear that christmas day went smoothly for most. Congratulations for tomorrow Yorkshirechick - have a wonderful day!
All went well here - Mum and I had done as much beforehand as possible for an easier day - one minor panic first thing when Mum realised she'd forgotton to buy the stuffing so had to raid the cupboard for the scraps out of previous packets which she mixed together - came out lovely!Turkey was gorgeous - no comparison, free range birds are without question so much nicer. Mum's roast spuds were glorious, my bread sauce was universally admired and enjoyed (first time I'd attempted it - yay for me!) and the other bits and bobs went down well too.
TV doesn't go on here on Christmas day - never has done - we record anything we want to watch. After lunch we open our presents - got some lovely bits including the new towels and bathmat we wanted for our bathroom, Christy no less - thanks Mum & Dad! Also got The Thrift Book from OH which was on my list, plus CD's (Rod Stewart and Queen/Paul Rodgers) A new overnight bag (in a BRIGHT pink suedette), a black knitted hat with pink tassles on the top, some money from my Great Aunt - she's given myself and MrEH £25 each so that's going towards the freezer fund - all in all some lovely stuff and far more than I expected - I feel thoroughly spoilt! The home made gifts went down well - my Great Aunt loved her lemon curd and lemon loaf cake (which we cut into slices so she can freeze and just take out a slice at a time) Mum also was delighted with her lemon curd, and Dad assured me that if I decided to make rum & raisin fudge again and should find myself with leftovers, I could definitely send them his way!
Lazy day today - we'll eat cold leftovers from yesterday with salad, maybe watch a bit of TV later. Dad's gone to football and at the moment the three of us (myself, Mum & MrEH) are just lounging around doing nothing. Just the way it should be!
Good luck to all who are hosting parties today or doing battle with the sales!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hello all,
I am at my parents for Christmas - came up on Wednesday evening and going home Sunday night, so a nice few days to chill out.
Had a great day yesterday, eating, drinking and being merryI think the highlight was when my Mum tried to do a charade of Gormenghast (some choice facial expressions were involved
). We didn't watch TV at all, which I am glad of - although I did record Wallace and Gromit to watch later. It was lovely having all the family together.
Presents were pretty OS
- Oil filled radiator (hoping this will make a dent in my crippling energy bills, as it is thermostatic)
- Fingerless gloves (good for sitting on compy)
- Socks (always useful, my steelies trash socks)
- Money (into savings), chocolates and some little bits and bobs for the home
Have already spent 50 pounds in the Lakeland sale , most on presents though, so hopefully I will be more organised next year (I was still shopping on Xmas Eve)
Don't know what to do today...don't really fancy trawling around the sales, but nowhere else is open...
Hope you all have a good day :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi everyone, bit of a weird Xmas Day was had here as none of the boys fancied their xmas dinner
Grandad had fed them up so much in the morning/lunchtime they just didn't want a huge meal as their appetites are still recovering from the flu bug
So as it's DD2's birthday today we are having it today insteadso think of me while you lot are putting your feet up and the turkey is a distant memory :rotfl:
Then we've got yet more pressies to unwrap and a birthday cake to digest!!
