i use this on mine http://agoraphobeus.free.fr/iShuffle/index.html
you have to put it on your ishuffle and then you can just drag the files to the music folder and you run the exe and it updates the ishuffle.
Every time you change the contents of the music folder, click the ishuffle exe that is on the little player(from inside windows on your pc) then it just works as normal.

I don't like i-pods. The sound quality and the software let them down. Cowon, i-river, Sony and Creative all offer better players.

  • i hate them as well for the same reason. There's no reason you should have to !!!! around with iTunes or search for an alternative when practically every other MP3 player on the market will let you copy and paste music onto it.

Yes to use there album cover finder you have to have an account for itunes shop, but theres severalways round it,the easiest being the Get Info box-just get your album/art work cover copy from amazon etc and add it in Get Info.
You can also change the shop to usa,as they have a None box when it asks for how you are gonna pay.

I have a Zune, which is miles better than my iPod and iTunes ever were. I had iPods for a couple of years and in all that time, never managed to get all my music tracks in order. The Zune software took me two hours and I was done.

But unfortunately I can't fully recommend it as they're not officially available in the UK. (You can get them on ebay though...)

I don't hate iPods, but I wouldn't buy one. They are reasonably good DAPs with acceptable sound quality and world class marketing. I'd rather pay less for something which sounds much better (and I did).

I can't comment on iTunes, never having had reason to use it.

I have no idea what all you people are doing with iTunes. I plug my iPod in, it pops up in the devices list, and then I drag the music I want onto it. I have a hard time imagining how it could be any simpler.

For those struggling with dragging something from one part of the screen to another, I suggest you peruse the following link:

I can't believe the hatred (and then still buy one) for what I actually think is the simplest software to use, for what is the most popular mp3 player on the market..

I let iTunes put things where it wants, because then i don't have to keep a folder structure tidy, or forget and have music in multiple places and accidentally delete it.. ok.. that's one..

I just drag music into the itunes library, and then plug in my iPod, or iPhone, and it syncs across.. exactly as Marty J has said..

there is also another option, that lets you import mp3s that are in a folder, and then just plug in and go.

now, the whole album art debate here goes out of the window, because the OP said iPod Shuffle, which are the little screenless ones, but nontheless, i think all my obscure and alternative tunes have album art, if not from finding it online by right clicking and selecting, download album art, i spent an afternoon doing it manually!

iTunes is easy.. if you don't like it, don't buy an iPod.. that's what i say..

oh, and finally. the reason that some people might buy an ipod around this time of year, is that they were specifically asked for one.. mum, dad, i'd like an ipod for christmas please... here you go little johnny, have a creative zen..
well.. that's like ordering a big mac, and them giving you a fillet 'o' fish in my opinion!

I think that is part of my issue....why do I want the software to do what it wants with any of my music, and what's so onerous about keeping on top of organising your stuff ?? no offence, but I do a better job of organising my stuff than itunes does ?!?!?!
