If anyone thinks that NuLabour are Socialist, they are deluded. Basically, they suck up to the wealthy, do a few token gestures to 'hard working families', and keep the benefits culture afloat as they are too scared of losing power to tackle any serious issues. I doubt that Scameron will be much different, as he seems to think that the answer to the greed and failure of Capitalism is even more Capitalism with even less regulation!

We've had 11+ years of your socialist leaders. Now it is all ****** up you want to drop your allegiance to them.

Last thing we need is more socialist crapola. You got what you wanted Labour voters. Now be prepared for the consequences.

I would point out that a lot of the present nonsense originated in the US under a republican government so I doubt socialism can be blamed. If only the answer were so simple.
We lived in an age where greed became a virtue and no politician (and damn few individuals) had the courage to tell us, that as a society, we were in danger of becoming both morally and fiscally bankrupt.

Socialism just bailed you and many others out.

Capitalism has failed there can be no argument.

  • I want to learn more about all this stuff.. hearing it all on the news I feel very uneducated. Should I take a course/a-level in economics?

You socialism happily encouraged excessive debt and speculation.

If that quote of old about the FED should be there to remove the punchbowl just as the party starts getting going - then the BoE and FSA and Treasury didn't do that... they popped loads of the E-s themselves.. raved all day and night on the dancefloor.. spunked all the money around, and slept around with loads of different bimbos. Now the party is over.

Do you understand the difference between the two ideologies,or do you just spout humbug?

The freedom and wealth that capitalism provides very often leads to repossession.

But surely capitalism gives one the option to take out a mortgage in the first place, or not to take out a mortgage. Property can be rented just as easilly. This is what I mean about freedoms and how capitalism provides them.

I believe in socialism to the extent that the capitalist system left alone is unjust and unequal, and only serves the elite in society, and thus needs regulating and reforming. Capitalism does not provide equal opportunity, as those with wealth and power tend only to act to prevent others from obtaining it, and this is where some measure of socialism is necessary.

YES! - and we were all at fault for listening to what we knew was immoral and wrong -- and what would Maggie Thatcher know about anything ? That awful woman was a nightmare & did her level best to ruin life for ordinary working people. She ranks just under Hitler in my book.
