I bought a PDA from Kwiksave on Sunday branded Medion and didn't think anything of it, but when i got it home i found the box had been opened and the car adapter was broken so i phoned up to see if i could exchange for another. So went down again on monday and got an exchange and when i got it home realised this was a Micromaxx branded one (then fully realised that the other was a medion and that it was different) And that the software on each was different Medion 4.4 and Micromaxx 5, and from trying them both i'd say that the navigator 5 is much better and easier to use as you can put in a postcode, whereas medion was a street address, and just the little things like icons that make things easier to remember as the other was just blue lines and all looked the same. So apart from the Navigator 5 being different both PDA's seem exactly the same. But i would recommend the Navigator 5 over the medion branded PDA with Navigator 4.4. hey guys, is there a way to turn the brightness up of the screen in navigator 5? [first time user]... thanks
also volume at 60% is a little low, but if i put it any higher the sound starts to distort, guessing its the speaker?
and everytime u load the navigator software u get a popup window telling u to not use it without reading the manual or to operating the device during driving... is there a way to stop this from popping up all the time i start the program?0 -
I have now bought this unit in the Micromax format.
I think it's a great unit and the sat nav is a bonus.
Being a complete novice and not being the best at modern equipment I was wondering if anybody can help.
I would really like to add a speed camera warning system to the unit, it has Medion Navigator 5 installed.
Has anybody any idea if this can be done and if so how?
Many thanks
MartinBeen there, done that, now I want to do it cheaper!!0 -
UPGRADE (update)
Looks like it is not free after allNavigon wrote:you can upgrade to the Mobile Navigator 5 since your you have the MDPPC 150 which is compatible with our software (here) the upgrade would although cost you 79€. If you go to the international website and to upgrades, you need to enter "other Navigation software" and you end-device as being the MD PPC 150 then you´ll see the possible upgrade-options and prices.
I don't think I'll bother....This space for rent0 -
from what i have read mealmond u need to have version 5.1 or higher of the software [u have version 5 so won't work] but there is a separate poi program that will allow u to do this but u have to pay for the software.... otherwise get hold of tomtom 5 which supports poi [point of interest - that is used to warn u of cameras]....0

So basically, as a sat nav device, my medion 150 with Navigator 4.4 (which i'm stuck with 'cos my local Somerfield haven't got any left) isn't as good as the micromaxx version with Navigator 5, and there's no way to upgrade it to 5 without paying a fee?. With this in mind, would the experts out there advise installing Tom Tom 5 as an alternative and if so, would someone be so kind (without breaking the rules of the site of course) in telling me the whereabouts of a download.....ahem!....without paying out an extortionate fee?

Hang on, let me get this right....
The upgrade here:
http://www.navigon.com/site/uk/en/service_support/download_center/category/30/device_type/pda/86
(5.0 to 5.1 for windows mobile 2003)
will not work if you have version 5.0 on your PDA?
You'd have to buy it?0 -

LOL - I suspect that *would* break site rules!
After all, this is Money SAVING expert, not Money STEALING Expert!
I don't really see what the problem is with having version 4 - can't you just use this:

if you want POI?0
