  • Hiya guys.... I'm definately a 'sign up for everything' kinda girl... Did the Olymppic challenge with little effort put in, doing the elec challenge but again, no effort put in.... so this is definately the kind of challenge I need!
Breaking it down by month will help me focus a bit more I think...

    So, my January challenges are:
    1) Finish the chocolate covered raisins I have started - that will not take long!
    2) Open all the Christmas prezzies! DS still has loads unopened.... at 22mths, I don't think he'll mind if I open the last few! :o
    3) Tax return - have lost my UTR so need to call up for that on Monday:eek:
    4) De-clutter house - DS's toys are taking over, plus I keep stashing stuff with the intention of eBaying it... and its still hanging around now :o
    5) Maintain PAD and NSD challenges... both of these are helping me pyschologically... PAD as its helping me chip away at my debt and NSD because its making me think about everything I spend.
    6) Start exercising! I have been carrying my baby weight for far too long..... I shall start with jogging and sit-ups and see where I go from there!

Think that will do for now.... If I complete them all, I may well add a couple on.

    Sarah x

Goodness, I haven't posted here for AGES.... so I thought I'd better get back here and see how I'm doing... Well, easy January for me... the only thing I didn't do was the exercise (suprise suprise - not! :o ) Reached my target for NSDs and did my PAD every day :)

    So, targets for February...

    * EXERCISE!!! I will do some exercise, starting from tomorrow - I am on my way out to work now - although I will endeavor to do some sit ups or 30 mins on the Wii fit just to get going!
    * Paint bathroom - I have the paint, just need to get it done.
    * Re-paint the stairs - will need to buy paint for this, only did it two years ago but it look scrappy already :o
    * Paint kitchen - the units in our rented house are looking really messy and are difficult to keep clean, so need to think about what colour/finish to use.
    * Sort the cupboard under the stairs - this is where the paint has been stored, so I will need to do this before doing any painting!
    * Maintain PAD and reach NSD target - think I'm gonna toughen up a bit and include all spending inc food/fuel.

Can't think of anything else for now.... will add some later when I come up with some more!

I've been neglecting this thread for a while. Will have to come back later with my hash up of January and see how I did.

Oh yes please - what a fab idea - count me in! :j

I am the queen of making to do lists and sticking the yucky bits to the bottom every day, so I shall try to do some of the bits that have been ongoing forever. Also my ongoing challenges will be:

    1) Be working towards one money-making challenge at all times (i.e. £10 a day, £1000 in 100 days, etc)

    2) Get on with reclaiming credit card charges

    3) Have a money neutral holiday using proceeds from 1).

    4) Renovate the attic space to make a USEABLE bedroom

These are main aims for 2009. As well as to get together a sizeable savings pot (or even an unsizeable one - anything would be good really!) I may also use this challenge to create smaller targets month by month, but I will need to consult my to-do list first! :o

    Thankyou!

    Morning!

I'm pleased to say I'm completely on track with all of my challenges.

I've paid back the borrowed £1 I had to take out of my savings to pay for my phone bill and keep me out of my overdraft.

I also managed to get all of my coppers and loose change to the bank and put that straight into my savings too - which are building up quite quickly.

So, my updated list of challenges is as follows:

    1) Stop taking money out of savings account - back on track
    2) Triple the amount in my savings by the end of 2009 - going well :D
[strike]3) Bank my cheque for £175 and put it all into my savings[/strike]
[strike]4) Get some money bags from the bank, sort out all of my loose coppers and put them in the savings account too.[/strike]
    5) Get a better job I love (and hopefully pays lots) as soon as possible - Still no joy. I had an interview yesterday, but I think success is unlikely :(
    6) Stick to a weekly budget -managing so far
    7) Money left over from weekly spend to go into a sealed pot of it’s own. Once the year is up - of the pot gets too full - it will be added to savings - building up slowly
    8) Write two reviews for Bview a day - on hold till first payment is received

Hope everyone's doing well at the end of the first month - can you believe it's already nearly February?!?!

    x
    Looking forward to the future.

Can I join in? I have a few challenges I have been thinking of setting myself this year. This thread might mean I actually do them!

    - spend at least 30 minutes a day writing (reviews, a novel etc) I have done well on the writing but not on the novel, so really must try to start that.
    - finish a novel by the end of the year
    - de clutter my house and keep it that way I've made a small dent by ebaying a fair bit and chucked out (I hope) more than I've brought in but the house still has too much clutter in
    - make enough to pay for a wedding (small one) obviously ongoing but I'm trying

Not many but not small tasks either..... Starting NOW

This is the end of month one, and I decided to see how I've been getting on.

    February's tasks

    - write a chapter of a novel
    - meal plan to save money on takeaways and rubbish for the wedding pot
    - Drink more water ( I always drink coke or coffee instead of water and wonder why I have headaches)
    - Sell 20 items on Ebay

Just wanted to say as well keep going people as this thread motivates me to come back and get it done.

    Environmental Science assignment 6 - ??

Complete my Divemaster paperwork and get the qualification - erm yup one day (so far I've put it off for almost 6 years). Done two more pages of Knowledge Reviews and given photocopies of all the sections done so far to my Instructor. :D

Financially I still have to pay the balance of my Red Sea trip so need pay another £900 ish (thanks to flight supplements and XL going bust). I have this amount in my 'regular savings account' but am working on building the balance in my savings at another bank.

Not really a target for the next 4 months but to make full use of my ISA allowance in the next financial year, this years attempts have been somewhat pathetic thanks to changing my job to a much lower paid one (the work/fun balance is shockingly weighted to having fun while working though!). Still not able to add to this but loving my job. :o

And I suppose to enable me to make use of the ISA I should add find a second job, looking for a couple of nights a week bar work or something I can do during the day around my current job (so Monday and Wednesday daytimes). Completely and utterly avoided looking for another job yet. :o
