    January 2009

Post on this thread at least once every 2 days to update!
    Pay 500.00 off MBNA card
Get my 2.5 stone award at SW (currently lost 2st 1lbs so 6lbs to go)
Completely scrub and declutter living room (again!) inc couches and curtains.

Ok so I have been updating but not every 2 days so will try and do every day until the end of the month to make up!

I have paid 395.00 off MBNA so far and will pay 15.00 a day until the end of the month which is 105.00 (have already paid todays) so will have done exactly 500.00 - yeay!

havent had a good couple of weeks at SW so have still got 6lbs to go - it would take a miracle to get that by the 31st but we shall see! :rotfl:

Living room is looking good (well it will once Ive picked up the dinosaurs that are adorning the floor and will clean the couches this weekend. I have already decluttered cleaned (including under couches) washed the curtains etc so its looking good

All in all not too bad a month - will have a think for my Feb challenges next x x x
    Pay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Hi fiend - its from this website. Its a free tool where you can list all your debts, interest rates and how much in total you have to pay towards them and it tells you how much to pay off each debt each month so that you pay the minimum interest and it also gives you a debt free date. I havent explained it very well but its very addictive and a brilliant motivator x x

  • Thanks very much for that - a good scare is a good motivator.:)
  • I'm in!

Mine is to cut down on my travel costs. I've alrwady signed up for challenges to do with food costs, ebaying for more money, and making other good changes but haven't found anything about travel! So:

Been really trying to reduce my outgoings, looking through my online banking I've worked out I spend between £15-£30+ on travel. I don't have a car due to expense and the fact I live in London, and I have free bus travel so that figure is cabs on nights out but mostly tube travel.

This weekend I'm spending the night at a mates who lives miles away, normally I'd spend £2.20 each way, £4.40 total and travel the tube and bus journey which takes roughly an hour and a half. However, a bit of playing around online and I've found I can take two FREE (for me) buses to hers with only 30mins max added to my journey each way :) This suits me fine as I can sit and study at the back of the bus and it feels good to be saving £4.40 for roughly an hours improvement in travel.

I know there will be other times I'll save on travel, and I've decided all money I -would- have spent on travel I'll put into my sealed pot!!

    Hi everyone,

It's good to see that this thread is really helping people keep on track.

I have a small confession to make...

I had to temporarily borrow £1 out of my savings account to cover an early direct debit by Orange. But, I have promised myself I will make sure it goes right back in when I am paid on Friday. (I'd rather have done this than get charged a fee for being 16p into the overdraft (again).)

Other than that, I'm still managing to stay on the straight and narrow with the rest of my challenges.

Hope everyone else is too x
    Looking forward to the future.
  • Hi all,

I did a snowball for the first time yesterday - terrifying!! So I am upping my game to get things paid asap! Wish me luck!!

For January, I am committing to:
    • Pay half of outstanding holiday balance - will be paid on 31st January
    • Put together meal plans and shopping lists for the month - done :T
    • Clear out the study - half way through
    • Apply for the re-mortgage - not started
    • Go for a swim twice a week - not started:mad:
    Bring on 2009![/quote]

Oh gosh! How quickly is January whizzing past?!!! I'm not doing toooo badly but feel I could have achieved a lot more this month.

One of my goals for February will be "post an update on progress every Sunday" - this way I can keep a check on what I'm doing throughout the month rather than rushing around during the last week to tick things from my list!

    1) Complete coursework for cancer care diploma
[STRIKE]2) Pay of 0% credit card by March 1st 2009[/STRIKE]
    3) Do my 2008 - 2009 tax return
    4) Decorate children's bedrooms
    5) Empty attic to use as a playroom

    Ongoing all year
    1) Stick to budget
    2) Buy for christmas/birthdays (don't pay full price - wrap as I buy).

The credit card got paid off last week and we've removed lots from the attic already but much more to be chucked from there. The children have started putting their ideas down on paper for their bedrooms so we've made a start on those too.

I need to start some course work now and I'd like to put all my accounts onto the computer by the end of this week so i've only got Feb and March to add then i'm done. So, lots of paperwork this week. Hope everyone is achieving their goals xx
