Am I too late to join this challenge?

    my challenges for January anyway:
    • Clear DD's room properly (i.e. not just move the stuff to around the house) in order to receive a lodger in February. Well a bit urgent now as the potential lodger is visiting this weekend -I've stripped the bed so far :o
    • start clearing the loft
    • clear the patio of the bits of wood/old furniture etc that have accumulated there. This being the first stage of sorting the garden in 2009. Only been home after dark since I got back, so that'll wait for the weekends, and the gardening too
    • Get back into writing, by putting aside Sunday afternoons (except when visiting aged P's, or Skyping Popeye, or other excuses :o ) to do it.
    • Contact planning authority to work out a way of extending our property to accomodate the extra family we may acquire (see above) if the lodger and we are happy to carry on for years. We have a collection of step-kids and we don't want any of them to feel ousted or unwelcome. The extension may only be a garden office, but we need to plan. spoke to them today, just have to get th old drawings out and they will discuss this further when they receive them
    • lose some weight and get as fit as my arthritus will allow. I'm sure the weight I've put on in recent years is down to me being less active because of stiff joints. finally been to the gym :j but eating terribly!

I've only been home since Monday, and I've wasted money buying my lunch each day :o but I'm not letting this challenge go.:o

  • Need some encouragement to keep motivated so this could be the place:

    Starting from today:
    No chocolate until March.
To lose 7 pounds by 30 January.
To manage on a £50 a week food shopping budget (half of usual budget).
  • i've only really got two challenges for myself:
    1) have £3000 in savings by Dec 09 (and seeing as I'm 19, full time working and living with parents this is realistic)
    2) Make £100 every 3 months from sources other than my job e.g. surveys, selling things etc

    can I join the challenge?

    Good afternoon everyone.

[strike]3) Bank my cheque for £175 and put it all into my savings - banked, but not in savings yet[/strike] DONE :j

Just transfered the £175 into my savings account. Not bad for January. Definately on track for challenge no 2) Triple the amount in my savings by the end of 2009.

I've also got a couple of new challenges to add:

    7) (As I've joined the weekly spend challenge) Money left over from weekly spend budget will go into a sealed pot of it’s own. Once the year is up - or the pot gets too full - it will be added to savings.
    8) Write two reviews for Bview a day (I’ve already earned around £7/8 which will be put into savings.

I'm also considering writing daily tasks - but I'm not sure I have the resolve to keep up with them.

    Bx
    Looking forward to the future.

    5) Visit mse at least twice per week ~ complete for w/c 29/12/08, complete for w/c 5/1/09

More added to my holiday savings :T I am now 1/3rd of my way to that challenge :j
  • I've signed up for more challenges than I should have done really. I am simplifying it though. I'm sticking with the live on 4 grand a year challenge and continuing with the payment a day one (except where such payment would be financed by increasing debt elsewhere). For me, that covers everything really as the other challenges seem to be offshoots from these or they assist with them. If I can live on 4 grand a year and make some extra payment to my debts most days, then it will eventually come right.
