    INTERIM MANAGEMENT STATEMENT

    these statements are produced by the companies themselves, hence there is always a positive spin about them, and the language used is carefully picked and edited and reviewed many times over before put out.

    if you look at the trading statement for woolies / land of leather / MFI to name a few they probably all said something just as nice and pleasent.

    what you need to look at is a number of things

    share price (see for yourself! its its dire!) two years ago around £2 now around £0.20

    broker credit ratings (from the likes of major corporates such as citibank, standards and poors etc)

    which are usually impartial and unbiased
  • I'm sorry I didn't read these till I purchased fridge freezer, it was delivered as promised but the delivery men refused to lift it upstairs to my kitchen, result, it had to be sent back and I am awaiting refund:confused: What do you think my chances are? Didn't say anything on the web site about this.

    yeah your the biggest/strongest and most profitable, but a lot of people HATE DSG for everything that it stands for. So you may not go bust yet - but you will - as soon as there is a viable alternative it takes on average 20 +ve recommendations to reverse the negative impact of one negative comment. Haven't seen many positives on 8 pages here !!

    If I were you Id be looking for a new company to work for - its not personal, but the world is changing, big is no longer beautiful - look at all the people who hate Microsoft, Tescos etc etc - customers want a rich and positive buying experience with customer care before, during and after purchase. DSG in my experience pounce on you as soon as you look remotely look like your likely to buy something, then treat you like dirt whilst you pay, then forget you once you have walked out of the store.

    your right, the original op of this didn't format it well should read....
    Renewal and Transformation plan on track:

    New format stores continue to perform strongly with sales 15% to 25% ahead of the rest of the

    chain;
    41 PC World, 11 Currys Superstores, 4 Currys.digital, 1 Currys Megastore and 1 trial combined PC
    World and Currys store all traded through Christmas Peak;
    Currys Megastore sales and gross profit contribution exceeded expectations and should generate
    over £30 million of sales per year.

    so as you say this is refering to the new winning new revenue stores, which impressively are 15-25% out performing normal stores.

    *edit : MSE seems to mess the formatting up!! :(
    The 15-25% figure is misleading - the "WNR" stores (the refurbed ones) are allowed to employ more staff and are allowed to send the !!!!!! stock they can't sell (like that old beaten up display laptop) to other stores to get rid off.

    If customers love customer service so much, then why is it most people on here buy from the internet than physical stores? In reality no-one actually cares about CS, rather how much their paying - Tesco's easily undercut DSGi, but you can't exactly ask the kid stacking the Apples to tell you the differences between 32 and 64-bit Windows :rolleyes:

    what you have been told is wrong.
    Is it true the staff have been banned from giving any discounts - a 'haggling ban'? My sister was told this by a staff member when trying to get them to honour the sale price that had expired the day before in Currys, and I witnessed a customer in PC World refused a discount on the last display model of a discontinued model laptop!

    Seems like they want to get every penny in....

    You won't get very far in PCWorld asking questions like that either.

    Do you want fries with that?

  • DSG have been under pressure from a sales point of view, but then again, who hasn't in these times of recession.? But at least DSG are trying to positively trade through the storm by doing more staff training, improving their stores and trying to improve customer services.

    The new CEO of DSG is an ex-Tesco man who's got customer service and value for money at the top of his agenda. He seems to be intent on bringing DSG to the forefront of customer service lists and have the stores selling the best ranges possible - giving the customer what they want, and not what DSG want to sell.

    Everyone seems to bemoan the fact that British businesses are going under and foreign investment means no money is propping up the UK economy, but then you all seem to want to see a UK business go under. Dixons was started in 1948 in Edgeware and has traded up in the last 60 years to become one of Europes biggest retailers, so why are people so willing to see another 40,000 people go unemployed for the sake of them not having their kettle delivered to them carried on a velvet cushion whilst a fanfare plays in the background.!

    Wake up people, if you all loved customer service so much, then Amazon, Argos and the like would all be out of business asap. NO, people want everything for the cheapest price possible, and retailers like DSG have tried to do this whilst still maintaining a shop presence on the high street for us to go into and see the items face-to-face.

    By all means try to save your money, but don't moan when you lose some customer service for the sake of buying goods at a cheaper price. Either that or start to shop in Harrods and then you may get the service you desire.

    Consumers IME don't have high expectation of customer service when buying a product....it's when the product goes wrong that DSG have let so many down over the years and may explain the ambivalence/hostility towards them.
