    Hi OBNW :hello: :hello:

I, too, have only just come accross your thread, and would, belatedly, like to welcome you to DFW.

Perhaps there could be ways to 'reduce' some of your debts (cancelling PPI, reduced full and final settlement offers etcetera).

I, as others, look forward to seeing your SOA, so that we can give some constructive advice.

    Good luck.

DFW Nerd # 166 PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS
  • Hi Rog2
I have not posted a SOA as I know I could pay more off my debt than I do at the moment. I am repaying 1500pm which I should up and will eventually but at the moment income is 80k and debt is 42K.
But not ready to up it yet as I have three kids in further education which sucks!
I think I have just been servicing this amount of debt for a few years without reducing it, now I want/need to reduce it a) before my husband leaves and or gets funny with money and b) peace of mind re jobs etc

I was hoping for a no spend day yesterday but my daughter needed my debit card to send of her ucas stuff so I could not deny that
Will spend today as I need salad and tomorrow I need my weekly tenner for the pub where I like to be on a wednesday evening so I can resume being rubbish in the pub quiz;)
I'm getting bored as I want to update my snowball but have no payments going for a few days!

    Hi OBNW!!

I know what you mean about wanting to update your sig / snowball to see things improving. I have realised in the past week or so that things are not going to reduce as quick as I thought - but the flip side is they are definitely not getting any worse! Why is the uphill a struggle but the downhill into debt so easy?? (no, I don't need an answer.... I know why!)

My next debt payment goes out Thursday, so I will update my sig then! (yippee!) Ooh, enjoy the quiz - haven't been to one for a while, always a good giggle!

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!
  • Hi there!!

I just stumbled upon this thread, and your comments made me laugh outloud!

How was your flan after all?

You seem to be on your way, like you said it's baby steps. I started a sealed pound pot, however, I only have a pig, with a removable bottom (i thought about super gluing it, but can't find any) and so the £2.50 that was in there, I used  .

When I receive my next wage (and my last for a while) I think I may well purchase some super glu and start again!!

    Hi OBNW.

You know what you said about us being from the same batch .... well it's hit me again today as I've updated myself on your comings and goings! We pay £1500pm to the debt (could definately pay a bit more) and the income v debt ratio is almost identical. Daughter about go to go Uni and we want to be debt free for when we get to the other side of full-time 'parenting at home' so we can see if we still have anything in common! :rotfl:

I was wondering about the pecan tart too .... was it as lovely as it sounded?? I've managed to get back on the diet wagon quite well this week. Really would like to lose 30lbs, but not in any rush ..... 2012 will do!

Not quite so cold here this week but very wet. My daughter went to catch her traing to college yesterday at 7.30am as she had an exam at 9am and because of the rain the trains were cancelled until 9.30am! Had to take her 15 miles to college ..... never used to bother me but now it's more petrol money to put in the tank!! as well as the £125 train pass we've had to provide! It all adds up ..... at least it does this week.

Hope the rest of the day goes well .....

  • Hey I made it.
LMS the flan was good, but maybe I should just stick lumps of lard to my thighs!
Have you plugged your pig yet? I am considering buying one of these tins
http://www.madaboutthings.com/cash-cans-12-c.asp I had asked my girls for a teramundi for my birthday, but they are all over a tenner and these are good for £2 may even be cheaper than buying superglue.
Sorry to hear about your job hope you find paid work soon.
DC- did you get a pedometer?
Sister Lewbs- do you manage NSD’s? I’m rubbish at them, keep planning them and they don’t happen! Planned one yesterday but my daughters called and said as it was toad in the hole for dinner and it’s their friends’ fav can they come for dinner. So needed extra sausages, cabbage and carrots and also a lemon as my friend at work asked me to bake a lemon drizzle for today. I had a lovely evening finishing the Christmas wine and playing articulate.
Anyway next week I intend to attempt 3 NSD’s easier at the end of the money due to lack of dosh.
Nat- keep crunching those numbers you are going great guns.
I am going to stick my total debt on my signature today, and update it monthly- now this month it will hardly go down at all and this is because my OH’s annual season ticket has come of a CC and this will not be reimbursed until next month. And I have paid for it on a low rate CC but will pay the reimbursement onto my card with the highest APR- I’m learning by jov.
I’m out for a curry tonight all paid for can’t wait
    Have a good evening all

  • Had a lovely curry last night  but from today back on the being healthy wagon.
Walked into town and notched up 11,000 steps:dance:
My weekly shop came in under budget at £99.78 however I fear we may starve as there does not seem much
I don't want to wish my life away but am frustrated that its a whole month between pay days and updating my nerdy spreadsheets:whistle:
Tomorrow I think I'll go to the shopping centre and treat myself with some vouchers I got for Crimbo :D
    Have a good weekend y'all

  • Today I have cancelled three useless direct debits that I have been paying mindlessly for years:mad:. I have queried a large medical bill for my daughter ...wish me luck with that one  but worth a try I feel.
So I feel all up to date and groovy:j (Ilove 60's words:cool:)
