Hi OBNW! and welcome to the DFW Forum. It's an amazing place to be for support, inspiration and hugs!
I think that your debt is on the level of mine - my DFD is June 2012 and that's with throwing £1.5k per month at it! We are just able to live within our means but that makes it a real challenge because every little bit that we manage to cut back on is more towards our debt. I have found the most inspirational thread is the 'Payment a Day' one which has got me putting money in a jar everyday to pay 'extra' towards the debts. I'm hoping to get our DFD down to Dec 2011 so hope not to be far behind you. I'm sure we can keep each other going over the next 3 years!!
I did exactly the same as you, came on here 2 years ago, picked up all of the ideas and then did little with it in terms of paying off the debt! I have to say, it hasn't increased, but it hasn't reduced either with us just paying the min payments and the interest constantly being added. It makes me sick to look at how much we have paid in interest! My OH just buries his head in the sand and lives for today.
All of our debt is now on low LOB's or 0% so I feel we can reduce it at a reasonable rate now. It's the overpayments that matter.
Good luck and I'll follow your thread if that's ok.

Goodness you are a lovely lot :A - Kicks myself again for not doing this sooner!
So many of us in the same boat
I am playing with my SOA at the moment and should be able to maintain paying off £1,500 per month and maybe a little extra if I don't need to pay excess for new windscreen:rolleyes: or pay my daughters dental bills etc (you are all familiar with senario)
Anyway one thing I need to lose is I have personal pension plan and a work pension, I want to stop paying the personal one and use this for debt reducing. Do I just tell them I want to take a payment break or finish it and move the money to my work one? Should I post this on the pensions board?
Also I have wasted a phenomenal amount on over insuring myself and other half. Everytime I moved the mortgage I took out new insurance and left the old one running, it was only a few quid a month but now we are slightly older its a fair bit...yuk so I'm cancelling this whilst making sure we are covered.
Getting my money sorted is one thing personal life another story but hey Roman builders etc etc etc.
Lewby you sound like my twin from another Mother:DLBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

Bad bad Saturday
I woke up with no heating or hot water and british gas can not come till tomorrow.... it's king freezing
I walked into town today, started doing this about feb, not wanting to spend out on gym membership I got a pedometer and try to do 10000 steps a day to get a little fitter/firmer and drop some weight (lost about 18lbs) Anyway I walk with a friend most weekends anout 45 mins eachway and we wonder round the shops check out wilko's etc and then treat ourselves to a costa coffee before we head back. Today she treated me to a impulse manicure as she wanted one and didn't want me bored waiting:A
Whilst in town I got some cash out for the weeks food shop then came home wrote menu plan and shopping list the off to butchers for the meat and Sainsburys for the rest. Came in 88p under budget
Non money saving things today....
Purchased unnecessary flan tin
Noticed crack in car windscreen so need to pay £50 excess
Bought logs for my woodburner, sole source of head in my house atm.
I am getting better honestly :rolleyes2LBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

Evening OBNW. It doesn't sound toooooo bad.... came in under grocery budget and did a menu plan!
What made you buy the unneccessary flan tin? Was it in the sales?
I had to light the fire today as it was so cold - even with the oil central heating on. Have been at home writing an assignment for college so sat still and feeling the cold. Last assignment thank goodness!
Shame about the windscreen but better to notice the crack and get it fixed that have it shatter when driving. In the cold weather it sems to happen really easily. It always seems that just when you think things are sorted an unexpected expense comes along ..... have just read on here that someone has damaged their teeth and have a £1500 bill!!!!!
Hope you are managing to keep warm and that the heating gets fixed tomorrow.
I always think we are doing well just by visiting this site and posting .... so keep it up :T

I have a strange disease, everytime I read through cookery books I feel I have to present the food on a dish that looks like the one in the book. It's not my faultI'm having counseling and electric shock treatment to try to cure me, but I am making a pecan caramel tart tomorrow and Nigella's looked so good in this dish... I mean what's a girl to do:o
What are you studying?LBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

My OH has the same disease as you! If a recipe says 'Madagascan Sugar' I think he'd go there to fetch it!! I hope the tart turns out well ... it doesn't sound very diet friendly but sounds gorgeous.
I'm studying my second Masters Level Management qualification. Have done my dissertation and somehow managed to get a distinction! I have to do one last assignment and put a portfolio together and it's done. I am tempted to do a PHD but will wait til we are debt free and DD has gone to Uni..... plus need to let the feeling of 'why did I ever start this' to pass again!
Off for a bath now to read through my last offering ..... think I'll take a G & T with me ... slimline tonic of course!

just fell on your thread. Like your pedometer idea. I can feel the post christmas excess taking root so may invest in a totally MS way ie charity shop purchase.
As for your heating I sympathise, having just suffered the same, lot of it around. Get the duvets on the sofa and use it as an excuse to practice couch potato skills.
I have become addicted to our portable halogen heater !
Love Nigella, makes it look so easy, my 12 year old loves her too..ahem..DC.

Today, house still icy but I have just walked to my local sainsbury (an hour away) whith a back pack containing the contents of my piggy bank, this I changed up in the coinstar machine only £8.73 but that makes up for my tin yesterday
Coinstar takes 7.9% of the monies as a charge ok for my little bit of change but the guy in front of me put in £287 of change loads of £2 £1 and 50ps so he paid £22 fees- I'd have bagged that up and taken it to the bank
Anyway so I've done over 11k steps and now just need to clean bathroom, do the ironing and throw a roast together apart from that it's relax time:cool:
