    Hi OBNW!!!

Have you got snow?????? It was snowing soooo hard went I went to bed last night (took me ages to go to sleep as I was so excited by the snow) that I truely thought I would wake up to a good covering outside.

But no...... it had turned to sleet, and now the sun has been out it has all but gone!!
I am seriously considering moving across the county a little as everywhere seems to get snow. (but we tend to have the best sunshine in the summer!)

  • I guess now that it is two weeks until payday we are on the home stretch, downhill all the way now...feet in the air and coasting:dance:

The last three nights I have watched my 17 year old daughters school production and been prouder each night. Last night we went on mass and had party blowers/poppers and lighters for 'we are the champions' was a very good evening and I'm exausted. I feel I did every dance sang every song and did every costume change with her :rolleyes2
Oh well a quiet patch now so I may decorate my eldest daughters bedroom this weekend (it's in the budget you know:p )
    Have a great weekend
    xxx

It's payday today for me, OBNW - we get paid 4 weekly - makes it pretty near impossible to budget with the calendar monthly bills.

Anyway I don't know how much I will have earnt as I have a cold and am not going in today.

The annual 'bonus' is due today, although I'm not sure if I qualify as I'm seasonal - should find out tomorrow - so, perhaps it's just as well I don't know yet as it would only make me more depressed. ;)

    Have a good weekend.

  • Hi rog2, I understand that 4 weekly pay days are a pain for budgeting, but wow extra paydays and so much number crunching and updating and reorganising it must be great.
I get bored about this time of the month, not much action, very little updating of spreadsheets and snowballs so no euphoria of chipping away at the debts. Oh well your mind should stay sharp with all the working out and reworking at least.

It is nice to get the 'two paydays in one month' - usually in December - but the disadvantages, from a budgetting point of view, certainly outweigh the few advantages that it does have.
Anyway - I did get my 'bonus' this month - after having been told last month that I didn't qualify due to my part-time contract  .
So I have the princely extra sum of £171.00 to 'play' with this month.
TV licence is due next week, so will pay it in one go, so that will 'free up' an extra £14.00 every month.
Might treat ourselves to a Chinese take-away, next weekend, as well.

  • Fed up and bored...no updating to do as no money to throw at debts until payday:rolleyes:
rog2- you have a wild and crazy side spending your windfall on your TV licence;) I'm guessing you don't work for Bank of Scotland:p I'm so glad their bonus's were reduced to the legal bare minimum, rewarding people for being crap has always seemed bizarre to me:confused:
Nats, I've just realised it's your payday again tomorrow, so I really shouldn't talk to you at all, and you even have loads of nerdy bank stuff to digest at lunch....jealous....me .....
Lewby..you've gone AWOL get back on the boards and I need a letter from a responsible adult explaining your absence:D
Not much else to say, was fairly rubbish at the pub quiz last night, it takes the biscuit when my three daughters on another team beat my teams scores:mad:
I'm just hoping the highlight of today is not my appointment with my gynaecologist this afternoon _pale_

Have just posted cheque (£139.50) to TV Licensing, leaving the pricely sum of £31.50 which will pay for a Chinese Takeaway, when my wife gets back from Italy next week. I really didn't think I could be so frivolous.

No - I do not work for BOS/RBS or any other institution where the 'bonus culture' is so widely abused. I am, currently, a humble delivery driver for ASDA. The 'bonus' is calculated on profits/turnover per store and will vary over the country. Our store acheived 88% of its target, giving a maximum possible bonus of £380.00 per employee, depending on how many hours that employee works. Because of their 'contracts' very few employees would, in fact, receive the full £380.00 - to do this you would need to have worked a 40 hour week and the maximum 'contract hours' are 37.5.
My hours are variable, but rarely more than 24 hours in any week, hence my payment. It was, most certainly welcome - albeit short-lived.

Since my hourly pay rate is £6.13 (as are most ASDA employees) I don't think I'll be heading for the Champagne bars of the City.

But I will, most definitely, enjoy my Chinese takeaway.
