Major Retailers Closing

I actually bought my Christmas cards at Clinton this year; having originally purchased some at WH Smiths, then went over the road to Clintons and found twice as many for half the price; and they were funnier aswell!

Went back and got a refund from Smiths!0 -

I absolutely love Lush stuff. While I hope they don't go under if they do I'll be withdrawing £1000 to stock up in their closing down sale. I'll be storing it in the shed though, as while individually the bathbombs/soaps smell great en mass they make me feel ill.;)0 -
Dont think lush will go anytime soon.
Think Body Shop will. Never seems that busy0 -

The body shop has become very expensive, and totally broken away from what the founding principles were, so would be understandable if they did go0 -

I have checked out prices in the retail shops and online and find I can get approx £200 cheaper on line i.e. £550 instead of £780.
That is an awful lot of money for a TV, though, even including a the cheaper-on-line thang.
I don't get people spending so much on TVs. We have a TV my parents bought in 1990, works fine. And doesn't take up half the living room, either....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I thought the original poster asking for MAJOR retailers
Companies like Markies, Next, Tesco's, Mcdonalds, that kind of thing,
Officers club, The Pier group and Whittards
Define "major", then.
Whittards has about 130 shops, and Officers' Club 160 or so, that seems to qualify for "major" in my book....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Suprised about the Homebase prediction. I would shop at homebase over B&Q any time - the morons in B&Q have me pulling my hair out. We got all our christmas decs etc at Homebase and it was absolutely thronged. It has reinvented itself over the past few years to appeal to a slightly different market, and some of its homewares are actually pretty good.
Agree about Clinton going though. They have been terribly outdated almost since they opened -unfunny cards, never anything new, overpriced tat.
Boots was in trouble a few years ago. Anyone know how they stand now? They are consistently undercut by places like Savers and Superdrug...0
