Major Retailers Closing

I'd be surprised if Comet went as I've not heard anything about them but have heard huge rumours about DSG group (especially them not being able to get credit insurance so having to pay cash)0

i think it will be those that can not compete online. Although Adams (who i worked for until yesterday) surprised me.
I think a book shop and hopefully Currys not comet. Comet have had excellent CS INMHO abnd Currys do not0 -
Landlords may have slapped protective distraints on them if they wanted monthly rents. My LL is doing it and is a big property company.Well I thought I would share with you what I found out today from my cousin who is a Baliff
he gave a handful of ones about to go bust...most I've never heard of (and can't remember) but two I have are
comet
Carpet right
Apparently they find out before its made public...but i don't know0 -
Burdale Capital Finance are behind a lot of these closures - they are essentially sub-prime lenders for struggling companies. Adams owed them £10mil, Rosebys £10mil, Woolworths £385mil. When they pulled the plug the companies went bust.
See the full list of shame here to see which other companies might be next:

I have checked out prices in the retail shops and online and find I can get approx £200 cheaper on line i.e. £550 instead of £780.
The point is, why would I buy from a retail store when I can get delivered for free from online?
I'm sure online retailing is hugely affecting retail stores
As a committed online shopper I would have agreed in the past, I bought our TV online with some nice Quidco cashback and discount online from Currys, bit o' free delivery chucked in etc etc - however my OH now works at Richer Sounds and I've honestly never seen customer service like it. If people knew the training they have to do; they get dvds to watch, tested all the time, go on courses - and it really sticks. Im sure Comet and PC World get by with work shadowing but these guys really have to prove their knowledge. Every time an advert for a TV or sound system comes on hes telling me the positives and negatives lol. I think Richer Sounds pride themselves on their customer services and are still very cheap.
Not to say that I would mind if they went bust, then I'd have my excuse for us to go travelling...

Interesting.
I suppose it depends on the assets the companies have. Borrowing £5 million for working capital is nothing if you have fairly liquid assets or assets that have an good market. Shops might not have this but some producers might have.0 -
