Superdrug in trouble? Empty shelves a sign? Misleading name anyway - where's the Kate Moss Coke, and George Michael Skunk?

Adams a dead cert to go down.

That is an awful lot of money for a TV, though, even including a the cheaper-on-line thang.

I don't get people spending so much on TVs. We have a TV my parents bought in 1990, works fine. And doesn't take up half the living room, either.

NDG, how much did that cost new, though? 20 years ago standard sized CRT TVs cost about £400+ if I recall correctly. Tech was a lot more expensive those days. I remember we spent £200 on a tiny 14" TV.

I don't think anyone predicted this one:

Clothing chain Adams cut down by retail wipeout
THE retail crisis claimed another victim this weekend with childrenswear chain Adams, which has 260 stores in the UK and 116 overseas, poised to go into administration.
Adams, which makes clothes for Boots as well as trading through its own outlets, employs about 2,000 staff. It is expected to appoint accountants Price Waterhouse Coopers as administrator this week.
The demise of Adams, which follows hard on the heels of the collapse of Whittard, the tea and coffee retailer, and music chain Zavvi, comes despite record numbers of shoppers thronging UK high streets since Christmas to take advantage of the big discounts on offer.

Well to be fair Adams was in receivership a little while ago so it's not that surprising really. Any shop that has been bought out by another company in say the last 14 months is at risk as it would have probably been bought using credit and the parent company can go down just as easily because of that.

I agree with people saying Land of Leather, SCS, Furniture Village. And I'd love those to go as they are a massive pain! Multiyork would be another one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the DSG group gets into some trouble.

What is annoying (but totally understandable in a way) is that the news is saying 10-15 chains will close, but won't tell us who they are!!!

The Telegraph is naming Clintons Cards, Allied Carpets, JJB and Land of Leather in their article that claims 1 in 10 stores could stand empty. This can be found here...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/3981504/One-in-10-shops-will-stand-empty.html

In addition, if you look at a finance website that shows both share prices and news stories, such as google finance, you can see which store chains aren't doing well, which are restructuring their finance, which share prices have tanked etc. While that doesn't necessarily mean those stores are going out of business, you can identify some that will find trading harder.

The body shop has become very expensive, and totally broken away from what the founding principles were, so would be understandable if they did go

They are expensive I agree, even with 50% off their shower gels are still £4 each! I only buy their stuff from the factory shop in Clarks Village. I mean why buy something for £4 there if you can get it for £1 at Asda or Boots?

Dont think lush will go anytime soon.

They could do seeing as their gear is so damn expensive, the original company called Cosmetics to Go went under so who's to say that Lush wont at some point?

    The Pier Group
    Whittards
    Officers Club

I'd never heard of these before they went to the wall

We have them all in Reading - including the latest one - Adams.

you haven't missed very much - the Pier sold quite expensive household stuff
Whittards - tea and coffee and related stuff.
Officers Club - clothes - I'm not sure I ever saw anyone in there.

I thought they were all over priced.
