There is an even cheaper option for books. Go to a Library!

I tend to forget to take them back and then have to pay a fine......
I buy books second hand for cheap prices, read them and then sell them on for the same if not more than I paid for them.
Keeps me in books at a profit so it works for me!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Superdrug?!?! lol! Theyre owned by Hutchison Whampoa, the same people that own 3 mobile (and strangely enough, one of their rivals, Savers), and are one of the largest companys in the world!
Mothercare are doing extremely well, they saw pre tax profits almost double this year!
HMV, unlikely to fold, seeing as their main rival has just collapsed, which will probably as much as double their footfall
Homebase are owned by Home Retail Group, who own Argos.....they may very well sell Homebase as someone has mentioned, if they dont, theyre probably not going anywhere....incidentally they have just got back onto the FTSE 100 index, so they cant be doing that badly.....
Currys, Dixons and PC World are the same company, all part of DSG.....and actually Dixons stores dont actually exist anymore, all high street Dixons are 'currys digital' and all out of town stores are currys......will they go down? hopefully.....overpriced crap, and often assume their customers are thick as !!!!.....PC World staff especially are extremely patronising at times....
Well anyway DSG, HMV and Game release their figures next week, so we'll soon know.....0 -

Heard today that DSG have put in for liquidation. Colleague knows someone in their HR. I'll wait and see.Fokking Fokk!0 -

I'd suspect that at this point the internet is HMV's main rival. Between people buying physical copies of cds/dvds/games from Amazon/Play, etc and people downloading music and movies the internet is huge competition for these stores. Especially when you consider the age demographic of customers to stores like HMV is the same group who are most computer literate.0 -

I'd say HMV's own internet department is an enemy of HMV as well. You see a great deal advertised, you go to the shop to find out that's only online. You think 'sod them' and end up buying from Play et al even if it's slightly more money due to them 'lying' to you.
mvengemvenge - Interesting if it's true. Can't seem them liquidating though. Splitting the company parts up maybe in a pre-pack way I can see happening though.0 -

Currys and PC World too.
I'd imagine quite a few others as well.
I don't get it. They can obviously afford to sell it for that much. The admin for that must be costing them something, so how about clear pricing across the board?
Currys have lost any of my future business because of that trick.0 -
Burdale Capital Finance are behind a lot of these closures - they are essentially sub-prime lenders for struggling companies. Adams owed them £10mil, Rosebys £10mil, Woolworths £385mil. When they pulled the plug the companies went bust.
See the full list of shame here to see which other companies might be next:

I really cannot see them entering liquidation, perhaps administration although as at there last accounts they still had about £200m of cash they could draw down.0
