  • Vix - I believe you must mention your degree - otherwise what have you been doing these last 3 years? If you get an interview it will come out then and you will potentially come across as a fraud and 'what else aren't you telling them'
Turn your degree to your advantage - look at the excellent list FFM has listed and give examples in your app that demonstrate that you have these qualities. As others have said, your degree shows commitment, ability to work in a team, the ability to see things through. Give positives reasons as to why you want this job and what you feel you have to offer.

Actually thats a pretty good site FFM in general. Popped tourism in the search bit and its given me a few ideas, even just to send my CV off to those companies and see what happens.

Are you a secret careers advisor? :p

Yea i see what youre saying BB.

Cool, i feel motivated and enthused! I think i need to overcome the feeling that im going to have to do something different to what i want to do right now in order to remain sane!

Thanks for the advice, youre all lush!
  • That's great vix:T . You are doing all the right things - asking questions, trying to come up with new approaches. That is what is going to get you a job in the end - this sort of perseverance. it's not an easy time the transition from higher ed to the world of work and trying to work out what it is you want to do with your life. Don't forget that anything you do now will all be good experience that will gradual help you find your what you want to do. And nothing is set in stone. Plenty of people have several differnt careers over the years.
You have loads to offer - skills, experience and some great personal qualities.

I havent posted as my dad went into hospital 2 weeks ago today for a routine procedure and very unexpectedly and suddenly died last Tuesday. We stayed at the hospital for days and my head is all over the place.

Needless to say my diet has taken a real back seat just now.

    Ha ha :rotfl:

No, but I do feel very strongly that many people do/did not get the right career advice when they need it. I was just lucky that I ended up in my profession - I love my work. OH ended up in a job he hated.

I am determined that the little monkeys will do a job/career that they want to do not what others think they should do.

We are currently guiding our biggest little monkey through 'options selection' to ensure that he picks subjects that will enable him to do his current chosen career but also remains broad enough so that if he changes his mind later he will be able to.

That particular website is one that little monkey's school promotes for their use for career selection/guidance - I think it is quite good - it seems to be quite accurate too.

Let us know if you get an interview - we can post some practice questions :rotfl:
