(are you really a planning officer...as from some of your posts I am not convinced)
As another planning officer, and having read many of planning_officer's well constructed and informative posts to people needing advice in this area I have no hesitation in saying if he's not a planning officer he must be really, really into the somewhat boring hobby of reading planning case law and the GPDO for fun. Personally my bet is he gets paid for it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -

From your posts above, I'm guessing you're not an English teacher...0 -
Planning Officer and Dinah, as I'm sure you know, many people think they know more about Planning than the profesionals, or they think you can just manipulate the legislation to suit what they want and grizzle when you say you can't. I found this many times when I was an Enforcement Technician and people would grumble because we didn't (couldn't) make their neighbour knock down their perfectly legal extension. My colleague even had death threats.
So when, in this case, people query your role as Planning Officer, I believe it is because they don't accept that the due process of law can take so long and that Mr Fidler has the legal right to take the case further if he choses and that he cannot be made to knock the building down whilst the case is under appeal.
When he has appealed to the highest authority and been refused yet again, he will have to knock it down, but it could still, even now, take a long time.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Maybe he should have just built a bungalow, isnt it right you can build anything you like next to your house pretty much so long as its under a certain height or is it never that simpleIs it still standing? Did he get away with it again?
The only chance he had is if people just forgot about it and now they cant possibly leave it.
If it was a castle then its missing the vital defensive moat and drawbridge to withdraw, a flaw in the grand plan0 -
There are strict planning laws about what you can and can't build, there is no right to build anything next to your home just because it's below a certain height. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
