It featured a youngish woman who had bought 14 acres and thought she could set it up as a llama breeding farm, completer wit some nice new wooden barn/sheds and a large "log cabin" as an instant farmhouse.
(I remember the goat boom of about 30 years ago, similar situation appears to have developed with llamas; where a prize winning baby llama is worth 15K.)
No wonder! Have you SEEN the price of alpaca?0 -
Its a bubble:

I also notice that there is VAT on them, this means they are not "real" farm animals, to that won't help the 14 acre "farmer" get planning permission for her log cabin - bit like puppy farming.
Note the prices for goats these days0 -
The cheapest on that site you linked to were £350 plus VAT. People pay more than that for a pedigree dog and they can't sell their fleeces either. Well, not unless they shaved their poodles.0

Biy off topic (while we wait for the bulldosers) but the link is about Alpacas and the Woman trying to get away with the log cabin is breading Lamas.
Are they the same thing then?
Do you think she will get away with the log cabin/farmhouse?0 -
They are both camalids it would seem.

If he knocks down the existing dwelling, then he gets to pay top rate council tax on the new one?
Come to think of it relating to my local experience - presumably the local council is already trying to charge him council tax on both properties?
Sorry I still dont understand. Could someone explain.
